"NCIS: Hawaii" Spin-off Eyed at CBS as Franchise’s Fourth Series

CBS’ formidable "NCIS" drama franchise is on an expansion course again. Deals are still being finalized, but I hear that the network is developing "NCIS: Hawaii", a new installment in the hit procedural franchise.

Created/executive produced by "NCIS: New Orleans" executive producers/showrunner Christopher Silber and Jan Nash as well as "SEAL Team" writer-producer Matt Bosack, the project is expected to feature a new team based in Hawaii.



Unlike fellow offshoots "L.A." and "New Orleans", I hear there are no current plans for "NCIS: Hawaii" to be introduced as a planted spin-off from one of the other "NCIS" series.

CBS and the studio behind the "NCIS" franchise, CBS Studios, declined comment.

"NCIS: Hawaii" Spin-off With Female Lead Picked Up to Series at CBS

CBS has given a straight-to-series order to new offshoot "NCIS: Hawaii", the first installment in the "NCIS" franchise with a female lead.

Set in the Aloha State, the series follows the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor and her team as they balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security and the mysteries of the island itself.

Lachey will play Jane Tennant, the first woman to be named special agent in charge of NCIS' Pearl Harbor office. "A woman in a male-dominated profession, she's thrived in a system that’s pushed back every step of the way through equal parts confidence and strategy," according to CBS' description. "She's also a mother raising her children mostly on her own and has to balance her duty to her kids and her country." CBS also announced Yasmine Al-Bustami and Jason Antoon have also signed on as series regulars. Lachey previously starred on Fox's BH90210 and NBC's Truth Be Told. She was also a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and a host of MTV's Total Request Live.

Tori Anderson & Kian Talan to Co-Star on CBS' "NCIS: Hawaii"

Tori Anderson (No Tomorrow) and Kian Talan (Brainchild) are set as series regulars opposite Vanessa Lachey in the upcoming CBS drama series "NCIS: Hawaii".

Anderson will play Kate Whistler, an ambitious agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency who is intent on climbing the professional ladder. She excels at her work and the politics involved in getting ahead. But despite appearances, Whistler runs deep. There’s more to her story, as certain members of the team will learn.

Talan is Alex, Tennant’s oldest child, a 16-year-old who is strong willed and mature beyond his years. He still is struggling to cope with his parents’ divorce and all of the changes that come with it, but at his core he’s a good kid who just might not always make good choices.

Alex Tarrant to Star, Enver Gjokaj to Recur in "NCIS: Hawaii"

Rising New Zealand actor Alex Tarrant (Night Raiders) has been tapped as a lead opposite Vanessa Lachey in "NCIS: Hawai’i", the latest installment in CBS’ formidable NCIS franchise.

Enver Gjokaj (Agent Carter) will recur on the series, slated to launch this fall and air in the Monday 10 PM hour behind the Mark Harmon-led mothership series.
