to Margaret? Isn't that invasion of privacy? Is Bud supposed to be over 18 or is he that not rare but not overly common 17-year-old college student?

View Full Version : Wait, Bud's college English teacher sends a note home Tankeryanker 02-09-2021, 07:14 PM to Margaret? Isn't that invasion of privacy? Is Bud supposed to be over 18 or is he that not rare but not overly common 17-year-old college student? stevea 02-09-2021, 07:33 PM The English teacher wanted to see him hook up with Nelda??, lol... Seriously, maybe the age of adulthood back in 1960 was 21, although you'd think in college the note would have gone to him, not mommy. Another odd thing about Springfield J.C. -- how is it that Bud ended up in Miss Louvois's French class instead of Physics or whatever, and no one noticed he didn't report to the class he signed up for? Or Louvois didn't have a list of her students? Also, it was sure convenient Jonce just happened to live next door to Louvois. Too many odd coincidences in that episode. Tankeryanker 02-09-2021, 10:15 PM Another odd thing about education in Springfield is when during homecoming, Margaret opens the house window to listen to the bells which are supposed to be the bells of the college that she and Jim went to. I thought they had to take a drive to get to that college? Is Springfield big enough to have a JC and a University? stevea 02-09-2021, 10:34 PM That confused me too. I thought Jim and Margaret drove Betty and the whole family to State Univ. in some unnamed town, with that wise dean they couldn't stop talking about. He was so smart he must have designed their bell tower so it could be heard in Springfield. And on that trip Betty decided she wanted to go to Springfield J. C. By the end of the sixth season she would have gone to college for four years, yet there was no mention of her finishing up at Springfield Univ. or wherever. The J. C. thing kind of makes sense because she may have had in mind to originally go for an associate degree, and decided to go for the full four year degree. When it came to colleges and universities the writers needed to get on the same page. |
