Reason: I spent 4.5 months in rehabs for a horrible knee infection and the roomies in my rooms had their tv's on 24/7, I was ready to scream. At night while sleeping some had their tv's were in their faces as they slept...sick sick stuff.

So when I finally got home the cable company messed up my billing and to get back in with them, they wanted close to $400, I said no way, they messed up and I told them to come and get their "box"...or I would throw it in the alley.

They came and took it away.

My friends and family could not believe I did this but I do NOT MISS TV and love saving about $100 month and not supporting cable company.

My go to news is local radio and NPR and internet of course.

My last tv shows before rehab were reruns of 2-l/2 Men and National Geographics and Discovery on life in Alaska.

I did plenty of tv in my life and listening to all the lies of mainstream bull.

No, I still watch television, although admittedly less than I used to. I recently watched WandaVision on Disney+, and before that Dark on Netflix. I'm also watching Mom on CBS and Forged in Fire on the History Channel.

I got rid of my RCA TV/DVD combo back in 2015 and replace it with my current TV Vizio

No, I like to keep a TV to watch VHS tapes and DVDs (if I can because of my health).
But nowadays, I prefer to watch TV shows in my bed on my tablet.

:

I've gone back and forth over time, mostly TV is garbage. From 1973-1980, 1989-2001, and 2007-2017 I watched very little TV.

In between...I went back for refresher courses on why it is so boring. I'm about to that point again where I'm ready to cut the cord.

Weird question for a TV based message board. Do you go to book boards and ask if they’ve stopped reading?

But okay, I’ll play along. No, because

a) sports
b) with the currently 15 million networks and streamers (feels like that many) I can always find something that interests me

I would probably watch that if I got Disney +. Any good?

Good lord, I was asking if anyone else has. Some just have to argue about why etc.

You don't have to respond at all since you have not unplugged.

Why come to a TV site out of the blue and mainly post Covid and anti-mask, anti-vaccine related things? I hardly see you talk about shows. You’re 82... why don’t you tell us about the good ‘ol days, the grandkids? I don’t know any 82 year old who writes “Peace Out”.

You did not specify you only wanted “yes” replies.

I have a small flat screen TV (19”) that I rarely watch. But sometimes I’ll watch a DVD on it. Mostly though I watch stuff on YT or free streaming on my tablet.

Why? I got into Sex in the City during reruns and had fun there.

I spent most of my early life working 40 yrs, raising a child and tv was about last on to do's...

I said I unplugged TV, no TV.

I saw plenty of kids stuff raising my daughter and then being around grandkids when they were born. Sesame Street and the others. Good ole Elmo, he was my favorite.

I hear you. I rarely watch TV. The key reason I got a small flatscreen was to watch DVDs. And there’s tons of great stuff to watch online!

LOVED WandaVision. If you like superheroes or classic 50s-80s television (either one), you will love it, too. The loving homages to US TV history alone are worth the subscription.

My dad is also 74 and same thing.

This person is obviously trolling. They don't watch TV yet are on a TV site pushing insanity. Reminds me of this idiot on Facebook who joined a classic alternative site just to say how he hated British New Wave and Grunge. I mean really? What do people get joining sites against them? It would be like me joining a pro-Trump forum to discuss how I hate him, not very productive.

I read this little synopsis somewhere

>>> The fifth episode of WandaVision makes another jump ahead in sitcom-land to a Facts of Life or Full House-style ‘80s show.<<<

You must have loved that.

There was no Facts of Life, but I recognized nods to Full House, Growing Pains, and Family Ties. The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Bewitched, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and I Love Lucy are also in earlier episodes. Yep, I loved all the references.

Thanks. I did read that article after watching the first five episodes. Never saw The Courtship of Eddie's Father, so I couldn't catch that reference. The Full House reference is blink-and-you'll-miss-it, but I laughed so hard, because having it there is perfection, considering star Elizabeth Olsen was raised on the Full House set with her siblings, the Olsen twins. As an '80s child who watched 50s-80s sitcoms religiously in the 1980s, I was grinning from ear to ear during every episode. Can't wait to see what they do next! Fresh Prince? Cosby Show? Who knows?

My least favorite has to be the backstory about how it's not real. I didn't mind it once it got started but one of the episodes started differently than the others and it was a bit of a shocker. Loved the sitcom ones, especially the '70's because it was so Brady Bunch. The '80s reminded me of the shows like Growing Pains and Family Ties and the '60s one was more like Bewitched. It was all great but loved how they captured each decade.

Yeah, they really captured The Brady Bunch in the '70s episode. :so

Agnes' huge hair sure captured the spirit of the 1980s!

I DO MI$$ TV A LITTLE BUT TO BE HONEST THERE ISNT MUCH GOOD ON NOW...... Unless you dont like looking at flat digital crap which I do not like.... I like how TV used to look when we had analogue cable..... It was a warmer picture and def warmer audio........

I would rather NOT WATCH IT then watch my favourite shows like that.....

Funny how this thread has turned into a discussion of Wandavision. That was a show I wasn't interested in being from Marvel (Agents of Shield pilot was so boring and their movies don't appeal to me), but after seeing all the classic shows references Wandavision has am more interested now. I won't pay for Disney+ though, they should put it on Freeform sometime.

The WandaVision tributes to classic TV are really nice, and done in a loving way. You can tell they were made by people who love TV as much as we do.
