First good thing: this means toons are generally doing well for them. Second good thing: they are sticking with the "real" Jetsons, not that awful 80s retread.

I hope they use the masters from the recent Blu-ray set.

I would assume if The Jetsons does well. They might pick up the WeekNight 6:30pm time slot.

Not really a surprise that MeTV will be airing the original Jetsons series.

I have the DVD set and I'm fine with it, I have no plans to invest in the Blu Ray format.

Just too bad the original Jetsons series has just the one season of only 24 episodes, while The Flintstones has six seasons and 166 episodes. That's a huge difference.

stevea

I thought of that too (weeknights 6:30), but I didn't want to disappoint the Happy Days fans.

Yes, since they announced they are only showing the original series from 1962/63, weeknights wouldn't work. Not enough episodes.

In a perfect scenario, the original Jetsons would have ran for four seasons and ended the same time as The Flintstones, after the 1965-66 season.

The Jetsons was part of a sort of breakthrough for ABC that year. It and The Flintstones were a couple of the few shows ABC broadcast in color. The Flintstones transitioned to color that year after being broadcast for two seasons in black and white (even though all the episodes were produced in color).

Probably would have, if ABC hadn't scheduled it against the juggernaut known as The Wonderful World Of Disney in color.

That's interesting, probably was part of ABC's decision to plop down the money to broadcast it in color.

Ooops. Sorry.

They should expand the Sunday block an hour, add Jonny Quest, Yogi Bear and Top Cat and retitle The Funtastic World of Hanna-barbera.

Top Cat? Jonny Quest? Keep 'em coming!

H&I should pick up where METV drops off at 10:00am est with an HB Super Sci-FI block.

9:00am Wonder Woman (replaces 2nd episode of Greatest American Hero)
10:00am Johnny Quest
10:30am The Fantastic Four (60's)
11:00am Thundarr The Barbarian
11:30am Superfriends or Space Ghost
12:00 noon MacGyver (3hr block)

They should expand the Sunday block an hour, add Jonny Quest, Yogi Bear and Top Cat and retitle The Funtastic World of Hanna-barbera.

They could eliminate The Powers of Matthew Star and move Saved By The Bell back an hour to 6:00am and effectively free up the 9:00am slot on Sunday mornings for more HB cartoons.

Yes I agree, The Jetsons had an unfavorable spot on the schedule being placed vs. Disney. Maybe it would have been better if ABC had paired up The Flintstones and The Jetsons together on Friday night?

Would of been for the best. Flintstones at 8:00pm and Jetsons 8:30pm. It might have lead to HB being one of the power players of prime time television.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the H-B shorts end up becoming part of Toon in with Me Weekdays on MeTV, like Quick Draw McGraw, Huckleberry Hound, and such.

I can't quite figure out what they're doing with Speedy Golzales yet (as to whether they would wade into Quick Draw). So far they have shown 2 Speedys, both from the era where Speedy and Daffy were adversaries, but it wasn't a cat and mouse type thing, like the Speedy-Sylvester years--the better-produced cartoons before Warners shut down in 1964.

For some reason they don't seem to be showing the Speedy/Sylvester era toons. They may have been testing the waters with the newer ones (Speedy/Daffy) from the later 60s. Anyway, with Baba Louie being paired with Quick Draw, I just don't know. (Let me make clear I see no problems with any of the toons we're talking about--I don't think there's anything offensive in them, but I don't live to be offended.)

Anyway, I'd really like to see them add the Yogis, Hucks, maybe Quick Draw etc.--all those H-B shorts from the late 50s/early 60s. They would fit perfectly on Toon in with Me and they probably would have the rights to them. Another issue might be the shape they're in--I know the Quick Draws on Boomerang looked pretty rough, quality-wise.

I don't know if they will. The theatrical toons are a little more edgier. The HB television shorts are very kid friendly in tone, where as the primetime HB programs are for both kids and adults. For instance, in Johnny Quest you would actually see people occasionally get shot or stabbed (minus blood of course).

Since I know Babe Louie was just a caricature of Desi Arnaz, never really found the character offensive. Others might feel differently about it.

The old Huckleberry Hound Show (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Huckleberry_Hound_Show) and Yogi Bear Show, Quick Draw McGraw Show, were syndicated, and were shown in the evening, on most stations, it seems.

I do agree the toons that were part of those shows were definitely aimed at kids. With toonie the tuna and all that other stuff between cartoons, they have to be aiming at kids, too, as well as adults.

Totally agree. I don't find cartoon animals with an accent offensive, per se. And I don't know why anyone would.

I seem to remember the Jetsons coming on Sundays at 830pm after Disney.

With the success of the cartoons and the addition of The Jetsons later this month, I'd love to see some lesser known Hanna-Barbera shows on METV such as Quick Draw McGraw, The Penelope Pitstop Show, Magilla Gorilla, The Yogi Bear Show among some others. I'd even love to see the Scooby Doo- Movies on METV as well

They could move the Saturday morning cartoon block start time to 6:00am est and extend it to four hours. That way they could include an 1hr of HB shorts like Yogi, Huckleberry and etc. I figure Scooby Doo will eventually find it's way to the Sunday morning schedule alongside The Flintstones and Jetsons.

(disagrees with the part of the message I had boldened; remembers having often liked episodes of a certain TV program named "The Jetsons" I had believed were originally broadcast between the calendar years 1985 and 1987)
