Darren Criss celebrates his 34th birthday today. Criss spent most of his childhood in the San Francisco area. As a boy, he studied both music and theater. After earning a theater degree at Michigan, he and some classmates founded a musical theater company, StarKid Productions. Criss wrote the music and lyrics for A Very Potter Musical and its sequels, and also starred as Harry Potter.
Criss began working in television soon after his graduation from Michigan. A year later, he made his first appearance on Glee as Blaine Anderson. A recurring character during the series’ second season, he was promoted to regular beginning with season 3.

Criss made his feature film debut in 2012, in Girl Most Likely. More recently, he appeared as naval pilot Eugene Lindsey in Midway. The high point of his television career, so far, has been winning Emmy and Golden Globe honor for starring as Andrew Cunanan on season 2 of American Crime Story.
