We all know that he really had twin boys so that's true. But I assume his parents weren't really that annoying and that his brother wasn't super goofy as portrayed on the show.
Does anyone know for sure what's real and what's entertainment?
Thanks

Ray Romano does have a girl (Alexandra - so the name can be considered the same as Ally) and twin boys (Matthew and Gregory, which he decided to change to Michael and Geoffrey so that everything wasn't identical, though they have the same initials).
However, he actually has two brothers - Robert and Richard. His older brother Robert was actually jealous of Ray (in his view), but he was shorter than Ray. Ray and Phil Rosenthal were looking for a shorter, cranky type for Robert, but Brad Garrett blew them away with his self-pitying take.
Ray's dad is snarky and belongs to a lodge, just like Frank. Apparently his dad reveled in the portrayal - Ray said he was like the "king of the Elks" after the show went on the air. Ray's mom is a piano teacher just like Marie, but I don't know if she was as overbearing as the character was on the show. His parents didn't really live across the street, though they were only a 1/4-mile away.
I believe they got Debra's kitchen "abilities" from Phil's mom, who is supposedly a terrible cook. That's why Phil has hosted so many reality series as a culinary traveler - he's making up for a childhood of having to eat lousy food.
