Right below this thread is another one by me. In that thread, I mentioned the impact that the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest" had on me. I am very happy to see that it generated a couple of replies. Well, another episode that had a big impact on me was the first-season episode "The Emergency". This is, in fact, the first episode that I ever saw. I was twelve-years-old at the time. In my last post, I also mentioned a female poster who I corresponded with quite regularly in the past. Well, now I would like to write about another female poster that offered me some very interesting food for thought. My guess would be that some of you remember the classic line "your purse, your purse" from this episode. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it! The popular opinion seems to be that the lady on the payphone (played by Hazel Shermet) got what she deserved for acting the way that she acted. I asked my female friend her opinion on the subject. I proposed the topic by asking her if she thought that having to go running after her purse after Nell hung it on a gurney served her right for hogging the payphone, referring to Nell as some pushy woman and thinking that she was so hotsy totsy. My friend responded with "yes, I think that for Hazel Shermet's character to have to chase down her purse after Nell placed it on a gurney pole served her right for carrying on a meaningless conversation with her friend when Nell had to make an emergency call home. I thought that this was a very well thought-out reply. I then started a new thread called "A Well Thought-Out Reply". That thread did not generate any responses. However, all of this took place several years ago. I am bringing the topic back to see if things will be any different this time around.
