View Full Version : Should Belle have gotten a better farewell?
TheLittleFaerie 01-25-2021, 04:33 AM Compared to Flo's send-off, which was the plot for an entire episode...it almost seemed like Belle was cheated with just a phone call saying she wouldn't be back.... Alice and Vera didn't even get to say good-bye to her. I know Belle was not there very long, but still, do you think she should have gotten a farewell episode?
TVLegend 01-25-2021, 06:46 PM Yes! Yes! Yes! Boy, it seemed like Linda Lavin was ready to get rid of Diane Ladd in A HURRY. Flo didn’t even get shafted like that.

It really didn't make sense to me, I mean did Belle just leave all her stuff behind in her apartment? I always wanted to think she returned at some point, off-screen to get her belongings.
TVFactFan 01-26-2021, 09:22 PM I dont even remember what her farewell was

It was a little measly one minute scene with Belle announcing to Alice that she got her big break over the phone. LOL.

That must have went right by me lol
biffbronson 01-27-2021, 06:11 AM I used to watch the series first-run in primetime, but had no memory of the Belle character -- so I'd stopped watching by the time of her arrival.

She was way better than Jolene. Jolene was ass.

I watched the show all the time as a kid, and I always remembered Belle as the LAST waitress lol
Belle was but a blip on the show, really, so she wasn't going to get a send-off like Flo.
BestTVever 02-14-2021, 04:47 PM I do think for a show that lasted almost 10 years, there should have been an hour long goodbye. I always felt it was rushed. However, Alice stayed on about a year or two longer than it should have. There were incredible celebrities that appeared on that show. I would have liked to have seen a better ending. But thank goodness there was an ending. The show The Jeffersons was on just as long but it just was cancelled, no final goodbye or show. So for that I am thankful there was at least a goodbye show.

Yes a finale part 1 and 2
BestTVever 02-14-2021, 06:51 PM I just realized I misinterpreted the thread. It was about Belle's final and not the show. Oh well.

If I recall Belle's final episode didnt involve her around the cast just a phone call which is why I missed it. So she definitely didnt need to be discussed in the last ep

Oh, yes. The one minute phone call farewell scene. So unrushed and well written and iconic. That’ll definitely get Belle to be mentioned in the series finale.

And I missed it because I think it was in the beginning of the episode and I was still in the kitchen:lol::lol:

That farewell wasn’t sh*t

Antenna TV commercials for Alice seem to be shorter versus any other show and I was still taking food out of the oven and then was like....."Where is belle?
That's when I found out about the phone call by belle

I will have to catch that episode on the next cycle which should be sometime in April

She was still part of the main cast though, they should have had at least one or two scenes with her.... I think as someone mentioned, Belle huddled together with the rest of the cast tiptoeing around the guard dogs would have been a good scene... Or maybe when Belle, Alice and Vera were chained to the tree out front.
I mean people who were NOT even part of the cast got a scene in the finale, like random customers complaining about the food, so why not Belle? I feel like maybe there was some bad blood there.

Well Flo was on for 4 seasons and Bell was on for another 4 seasons so I guess they figured what's the point? lol
^I gather you meant Jolene, rather than Belle. :)

yeah jolene
sm95fan 08-08-2025, 05:42 PM It was not amicable departure so I'm not surprised Belle was told don't let the Mel's Diner door hit you on the way out.
