Too over the top and unnecessary changes to the original song. Im guessing it was changed because it was the start pf a new decade 90's.

I thought that the opening theme to this show was awful before they revised it and that it was even worse after they did.

Ok, listening back to back, a bit different, but meh, close enough.

Seemed like there were more lyrics in DJM77’s version.

Actually there were three different versions. The first version was used for Seasons 1-2. It was in the key of C and was sung by Larry Weiss. The second version was used from Season 3 to midway into 6 and was in the key of D and sung by Steve Wariner. The third version was used toward the end of season 6 up to the end of the series. It was also in the key of D and was sung by Jonathan Wolff.

Yeah, the first one is my favorite. I've found that to be true in most cases when a show updates/changes its theme throughout its run.

If you randomly stumble upon a rerun of Who's the Boss?, here are some tell-tale signs that you're watching an episode from the post-"jump the shark" (https://web.archive.org/web/20070110201047/http://www.jumptheshark.com/w/whostheboss.htm) period:

Sam has short hair and is in college.

Mona's red hair has a darker shade to it.

Billy and/or Hank, Sam's eventual husband is featured.

Jonathan is an awkward (https://web.archive.org/web/20140405003512/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/2874131-whos-the-boss/page-12#entry13730877) teenager.

The episodes start with a cold opening scene instead of going straight to the opening credits.

A saxophone is played during the "Brand New Life" theme.

Tony has a buzzcut instead of his normal, floppy, over-the-ears hairstyle.

Tony Singletary is the credited director.
