In Lamont Goes African episode, the African lady chastise Lamont the way he treat and talk to his father. Coming from African culture that is understandable.

But being and raised in america with not so much tight nit parental bonding, I think she should have taken a milder tone with Lamont regarding his father. She should have known Fred better before making such a harsh comment to Lamont.

First of all, Fred was not angel as far as being fatherly. A father that call his son Dummy every day is not a good parent. That kind of word coming from parent cut to the son's heart. Second Lamont was bread winner of the family and without him, Fred would be bankrupt. So Lamont deserve much more credit and respect which the African lady give him credit for.

She should have also give Fred a speech regarding how he treat his son and people around him like Julio and Rollo :)

I'm not sure Fred called Lamont 'Dummy' in front of her. However, even if he DID, I seriously doubt she'd have considered that out of line for Fred to have done. For all we know, she may have even thought it fine had Fred beaten Lamont right in front of her!

That African lady was on an episode of The Golden Girls where she plays Marguerite, the housekeeper.
Anyway, in Sanford & Son, I thought Lamont really was treating his father like crap. I guess the lady didn't know that Fred could be mean, too. He was especially mean to poor Julio for no reason.

I'm not sure Fred called Lamont 'Dummy' in front of her. However, even if he DID, I seriously doubt she'd have considered that out of line for Fred to have done. For all we know, she may have even thought it fine had Fred beaten Lamont right in front of her!

In America, that would be called child abuse :D

I doubt even in Africa parents would beat up on their "grown up" child like she said.
