In today's second episode, June leaves for a couple days to assist a friend who had a new baby.

Aunt Martha comes in to "pinch hit" in June's absence. I was very surprised to see the near complete antipathy all 3 Cleaver men had, from the very first mention that Aunt Martha was due to take the helm. I thought she was a bit more beloved than today's show indicated?

Found it humorous when Ward asked why Aunt Martha couldn't go instead to help out with the new baby, leaving June free to stay home, and after June's reply that Aunt Martha never had any experience with babies, Ward quips "Oh, I'm sure that someone must have mentioned something, somewhere along the line".....one of those double entendre moments, deluxe!

Aunt Martha's assertion right in front of Ward that Wally had the "looks" of a Bronson, likely explains better than anything else how Martha has managed to elude all her male suitors for so many years,..lol!

And, if Aunt Martha is so status conscious, what's up with her sending Beaver to school multiple days in a row wearing the exact same outfit? I can't recall even a single instance where I did this, and I'm not even a Bronson.

I'm sure the Bronson family album would not reflect kindly on the Cleavers

Can you imagine Martha meeting Uncle Billy and attempting a conversation? I doubt that would go well!

I was wondering who would win a cat fight between Aunt Martha and the school principle Miss Rayburn?

I picture them like in the bargain basement of some department store, fighting over a mutually coveted "last" item.....

In that contest or any contest I'd always bet on Mrs. R. to win.

Or possibly, after their initial attempted skirmish they'd both decide it was high time to end decades of frustration and get a room- to everyone else's mortification!

end decades of frustration and get a room!

Which begs the question, do you believe that Aunt Martha has remained "pure" her whole life long?

Well there was that Frenchman...

The Bronsons don't "kiss" and tell...

She did seem to go overboard re being 'proper' to have NOT had previous experience. Remember June only spent summers with her. Who knows what Aunt Martha did the other nine months of the year when she was younger!

"Well!! In my day...."

I had an Aunt Harriet, Great Aunt, that is. She was married but certainly prim and proper like Aunt Martha. I guess a lot of us had a relative like her.
