Just for clarity, this dialog between Beaver and Ward comes from the episode where Beaver has caused a rift between Wally and his object of affection "Penny", and Beaver is trying to get some insight into how fights between men and women evolve. Ward really shocked me with his boisterous assertion that some might interpret as an affront.
