I just read this a few minutes ago. Before they were both cast in All In The Family, Jean Stapleton and Carroll O'Connor had worked together on TV once before, but it wasn't on a sitcom. They were on an episode of the crime drama The Defenders together. I just thought it was rather interesting that's all. It would certainly be interesting to see that episode with them in it.
