What I think would work miracles for METV that everyone could enjoy would be a block lineup called METV's Totally 80's and what it would consist of is a whole block of 80's sitcoms that would vary on the weekdays and it would be awesome to watch. Here's what the first week of METV's Totally 80's block would have,
5PM-5:30PM Charles In Charge "2 episodes"
6PM My Two Dads
7PM Rags To Riches
8PM-8:30PM Gimme A Break "2 Episodes
9PM-10PM The Fabulous Fantastic 80's
A show hosted by singer Debbie Gibson that discusses the popular styles sitcoms movies music and trends that made the 80's the most awesome decade of all. The show will also feature music videos from the 80's and interviews with some of the biggest celebrities about what life was like in the 80's for them and would be similar to METV's Svengoolie but about the 80's. I think this would make a fine addition to METV because people love the 80's sitcoms and everything 80's

I love that idea.

I was thinking more of a late 80's early 90's TGIF block in the Fall. METV needs to try something to spice up the Friday night schedule.
8:00 Full House
8:30 Family Matters
9:00 Step by Step
9:30 Perfect Strangers

No offense, but if I want to watch 80s sitcoms, I watch Antenna TV. Metv is primarily for shows aired from the 50s-70s with a few outlier shows from the 80s/90s

I couldn't agree with you more, what a rotten idea. If METV were to consider this suggestion that would be the end of the network as we know it. The 60's and 70's series would be gone within a year's time replaced by 80's and beyond.

Hi, Bestie! Great idea! In fact METV should have a 60's, 70's and 80's slot! Also I wish they would get old shows like The life of Reilly and Car 54 where are you? in a slot too. What do you think?

We're already stuck with too much '80s on Antenna and others. Keep Me-TV/Decades truly classic.

The only ones I would be interested in anyway:

Pee Wee's Playhouse
Square Pegs
Knots Landing

I thought the same, seems like a good idea and would be a good fit for Antenna TV, but I think MeTV has a bit of an older audience who had already outgrown those kinds of kid's shows by the late 80s and early 90s. Gimme a Break is an exception though, I could see that working on MeTV.

You must be kidding, that's not how programming works! If METV starts adding 80's shows you can rest assured the network will not be adding Car 54, Life of Reilly or any other show from the 50's or 60's. As a matter of fact you'll soon be saying hello to things like St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, A Different World, Miami Vice, and The Golden Girls while at the same time saying goodbye to Perry Mason, Green Acres, Adam 12, The Twilight Zone, Honeymooners and Dick Van Dyke and Gomer Pyle among others.

I don't think they will or should totally replace the current weekly program block, because a lot of 80's sitcoms perform mediocre ratings numbers. Just wonder if an old late 80's early 90's Friday night program block geared towards family nostalgia might help pull in more of the 35-45 age crowd.

Demographics are definitely a consideration, and as was said, MeTV does trend older.

IMO they would be hesitant to mess with success (they beat several cable networks in ratings)--if they would do something similar to this, it would probably be during Summer of ME, as a test.

If Antenna TV has their own 80s Block & so do MeTV. If they do bring the 80s Block to life and I am watching it.

Of course they'll change it. What has made METV work so far is a consistent approach to programming. That's is, they program big hit series from the 60-70's that complement each other. If a decision is made to start working with 80's programs, the network will go in that direction. Shows that don't meet that criteria will be removed from the schedule and replaced by series that do. We've had the experience with Nick At Nite, TV Land and Antenna TV.

I’d love to see more 80s shows on MeTV instead of that lame MASH and Hogan’s Heroes that just seem to never go away. I’m hoping that Diff’rent Strokes and Facts of Life will return to MeTV in 2022 if the contract on Antenna expires at the end of year as those shows had two year contracts previously.

^I don't understand the popularity of both shows (MASH and HH). They're both based on wars that most living Americans don't relate to. Particularly Hogan.

But, as the trite saying goes, it is what it is.

Better idea:

Send all the listed 80's shows to Antenna, Cozi, Laugh, This, and get --

-- in trade for 50s-70s Bewitched, Jeannie, Munsters, That Girl, Gidget, The Addams Family, Patty Duke, Father Knows Best, Mr. Ed, and The Partridge Family (et al) to Me-TV and Decades!

I like Gilligan -- but those 25 year old Turner SD colorized episodes from S1 need to be permanently vaulted. Either show proper b/w or re-colorize with modern scanning and tech (and better colors that match S2&3).

Echo that! Someone ought to re-do them, and burn those horrible 90s color episodes.

I think MeTV has S1 in b/w also--PLEASE, use those!
