Michael Chiklis tried his luck in situational comedy by playing a former restaurant supply salesman who decides to become a stay-at-home dad. The show didn't make it past 18 episodes.

"We got killed because they moved us. It was a tough one," says Chiklis. "That's when I hit the wall. I needed to do something other than what I had been doing. My wife said this brilliant line I'll never forget: 'It's not incumbent upon the studios to reinvent you. It's incumbent upon you to reinvent yourself. You gotta do the work and not take another role.' And I said, 'well it can be a tough road between now and then.' And she said, 'I don't care, we'll sell the house and do whatever we need to do until you get the kind of work you want to get.'"

i loved this show it used to air on the Disney channel in the uk. I never forgot about it, but for the longest time I couldn’t find any information on it. there was no dvd/streaming. still isn’t. it was like the show never existed. until recently, I was able to find some episodes online. it still holds up, the writing is quick paced and witty. this was my first time seeing Michael chiklis. he was genuinely funny.

Michael Chiklis owes Emmy win to "Daddio" (https://web.archive.org/web/20020930091117/http://www.calendarlive.com/printedition/calendar/cl-et-braxton25sep25,0,3465678.story?coll=cl%2Dcalendar)

"The Shield" actor says his transformation as an actor happened only because his 2000 NBC sitcom (https://web.archive.org/web/20020930091117/http://www.andovertownsman.com/news/20000330/AE_002.html) failed miserably. "I hit such a wall in my life. And now I thank God for that low," he says. "That was the crossroads. I just had this deep level of despair because I knew what I was capable of doing." As for Emmy voters, Chiklis says: "I think they saw the work, and how much work I had put in to change myself."
