We close out 1987 with a look at Finders Keepers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finders_Keepers_(American_game_show)), Nickelodeon's attempt to make lightning strike twice with a children's game show. Why didn't it seem to work? Why did the host change between the cable version and syndicated version? And where did the show find the most success?

After seeing how successful Double Dare was Nickelodeon decided to press their luck with Finders Keepers and when it debuted in 1987 a year after Double Dare debuted in 1986 Nickelodeon knew that this new game show would follow the same popularity as Double Dare. With Wesley Eure from the original Land Of The Lost as host and Harvey as the announcer this show seemed to be a winner and even when Nickelodeon put it on it's game show schedule by airing it after Double Dare in 1988 it was a smart move. But what really caused Finders Keepers to go downhill was when they replaced Wesley Eure with a guy named Larry Toffler that's when the show's ratings became weak and Finders Keepers got cancelled. Because I remember reading that why Wesley Eure was replaced was because the producers thought Wesley was too old and they wanted a much younger host and so that's why Larry Toffler was chosen as the new host of Finders Keepers. But I think of all the Nickelodeon game shows Finders Keepers is one of the least known game shows other than Make The Grade from 1989. And that's probably why you don't see Finders Keepers reruns on Paramount+ or anywhere
