One was a college basketball game on ABC when, during a game between Texas and Arkansas, the Arkansas head coach walked off the court before the game ended. The other was the episode of Life Goes On, "Life After Death" where Becca is attracted to a new student, Jesse McKenna, and Becca kisses Jesse, he becomes volatile and reveals he has the HIV-virus. Later on, Becca tracks him down and argues with him, but soon realizes she is afraid to kiss him again and promises to keep his status a secret. But as Tyler's jealousy explodes into a fistfight with Jesse, Becca screams that Jesse is HIV-positive in front of a crowd of students.

I'm surprised this didn't get any more responses, because the answer for me is YES, YES, YES!!!!

The most shocking moment for me in all my years of watching television was the moment Dr. Romano of ER had his arm accidentally sliced off by a helicopter blade. It was done in such graphic detail, and to the character I least suspected something like that happening to.

Another shocking moment like that happened on the CW show, The 100, and it really left a bitter taste in my mouth. I forget the name of the character, but at the end of the second episode, we see him getting brutally murdered by a little girl. She slices off the tip of his finger and slashes his throat--again, in graphic detail.

The last one was The Little House on the Prairie Episode, May We Make Them Proud, where we see one of the characters (sorry, forget her name, too) shrieking from behind a window and desperately smashing it open with Mary's baby in her arms, right before they both burn to death.
