Sugarbaker is not her married name (her son and late husband’s last name was McIlroy).

I guess she just went back to her maiden name when she became widowed. Perhaps part of the reason was because she and Suzanne were going in as two of the partners into the design firm and thought it would be nice to use their family name for the business?

Wouldn't it just be "Ms. Sugarbaker"? She was never "Mrs. Sugarbaker".

It should be “Ms. Sugarbaker”, but they always says “Mrs. Sugarbaker” for Julia (they use Ms for Suzanne and Allison). I don’t get it.
