When I was growing up most of the TAGS guides said Don won his emmys for the first five years of the show. In reality Don won three of his Emmys for the first three seasons while the last two were for guest appearances in season six and seven.
My question what made the emmys decide not to give it to Don in 1964 and to no one in 1965 (no joke no one won the best supporting actor Emmy in 1965). Considering Season 4 has Barney’s Sidecar,A Black day for Mayberry, The Haunted House, Citizens arrest and Barney and Thelma Lou Pfft and season 5 has three wishes for Opie, Goober and the art of love, Goodbye Sheriff Taylor, and The Case of the Punch in the nose one has to wonder what caused the Emmys not to give Don an Emmy when he got it for season one (whose only episode people like is The Christmas Story) and Season 2 (which again has limited episodes)
