Thanks! What a Christmas treat, to get two FOL characters in a Christmas episode. I don't think I had ever seen Phyllis before, at least not since the 1970s or 1980s. Here, Phyllis seems very different than her snobby MTM character.

The visual gag of half of the office being decorated for Christmas strongly reminded me of the types of things they would do on Lucy or Laverne and Shirley. And then Phyllis going over to the other side of the office to get the file was straight out of L&S.

You know, it's too bad we never saw anything like this during the Eastland years of FOL. Mr. Bradley could have said there was no budget for a Christmas party. The girls decorate the Tiny Cafeteria anyway, to surprise Mrs. Garrett. Then the girls have to keep hiding the party every time Mr. Bradley comes in. :lol:

They retooled Phyllis in the second season. They made her less snobbish and gave her a new job working for city council. Mr. Bradley was one of the councilmen. John Lawlor played pretty much the same character in Phyllis as he did on Facts of Life. Just had a different job.

I saw a first season episode of Phyllis today where John Lawlor was playing a cop.
