It was from that point (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125335/http://www.jumptheshark.com/a/alice.htm), we started getting plots centered around ridiculous misunderstandings, cheesy guest stars playing themselves, and musical numbers featuring Linda Lavin.

I do not think so, I think that after about 5 seasons, it started going downhill. It's hard to sustain a sitcom for the long hall. I would have liked the producers from the first season to have remained for more seasons. The new producers were fine, but just had a different direction for the show. I think Linda was not happy with some of the scripts from the first season, so this and other things may have led to the producers changing.

I read a few dozen of the comments upon clicking the link. A good many people seemed to really dislike the show or the performers period, so why are they commenting about it jumping the shark? It sounded like a bunch of angry, immature people who make general negative comments about anything and everything just for the sake of making unpleasant comments. General negative comments with insults and name calling are not interesting to read. It adds nothing to the conversation.

“ Alice was best during its first year, IMO. But CBS wasn’t happy with it and changed the producers a few times, before settling on Lucy vets Bob Carroll and Madelyn Davis. That’s when we started getting plots centered around ridiculous misunderstandings, cheezy guest stars playing themselves, and musical numbers featuring Lavin.”

TMC, if you’re going to plagiarize other posts, at least give the original poster credit. Or switch a few words around so it’s not so obvious that you’re stealing from other people.

when Flo left it started going downhill for me. Belle didn't work and I was not a fan of Jolene.

And yet (not that this excuses what I did, because I'll admit that I was wrong), how come you couldn't talk about Carroll and Davis' performances in this forum!?

No. I loved the show from the beginning to the end.

The departure of Flo was the beginning of the end and the introduction of Jolene didn’t help either
