Season 5 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beverly_Hills,_90210_(season_5)) was the last season (https://www.reddit.com/r/BeverlyHills90210/comments/dqth0i/season_5/) with the old writing crew (https://www.reddit.com/r/BeverlyHills90210/comments/dh71ks/by_season_5_all_of_the_actors_hated_the_show/). Up until that point, the show was fun and watchable and made you care about the characters and their story arcs. But shortly there afterwards, Jason Priestly was made an executive producer (https://www.reddit.com/r/BeverlyHills90210/comments/fss22s/brandon_and_emily_are_infuriating/) and the show seemed to go from being a more hard hitting one to essentially a nighttime soap about a bunch of young adults and their first world problems.
