"Star Wars has always been selling us something, whether that’s fantasy or action figures or further investment in its content machine," says Rob Mahoney. "The best of those sales pitches feel natural, or even welcome; it’s telling that in response to the riveting premiere of The Mandalorian’s (https://forums.primetimer.com/forum/4412-the-mandalorian/) first season, fans were so desperate to buy Baby Yoda merchandise that they took matters into their own hands and created it themselves. It was almost pavlovian. When the Star Wars faithful were exposed to a new corner of the galaxy, they fawned, they cheered, and they opened their wallets. The second season continued in that rich tradition by making itself a running commercial for other shows." When you take a hit movie and start building an entire franchise of it and then later spinning off a TV series or cartoon series centering it it is a lot like a chef trying to perfect a delicious recipe. Because ever since Star Wars opened in theaters in 1977 people never knew that it would be a blockbuster smash hit and from the time Star Wars came out in 1977 and the sequels followed later people knew that these movies would have a big future planned for them. And so with so many Star Wars cartoons that debuted in the 1980's and the success of kids buying Star Wars toys in the 1970's Star Wars grew to be one of the most successful movie franchises. The Mandalorian is an example of this and why it's so successful from it's debut is because The Mandalorian has it all action suspense and more and a lovable character in The Child and with it being so successful I think Disney plans to make more Star Wars TV series just as Star Trek had many spin-off shows. I think George Lucas is trying to be the new Gene Roddenberry and I think he is proud of what he has achieved like a new dad meeting his new baby for the first time. And another thing The Mandalorian has done is start people on a new hobby by adding merchandise that fans go wild searching for. Like the Turboman craze in the holiday movie Jingle All The Way The Child toys were a hot seller and made many people "myself included" go wild trying to get their hands on Baby Yoda merchandise. So based on the success of The Mandalorian we shall be patient and see what new ingredient is put in the Star Wars soup next
