‘Night Court’ Sequel In Works At NBC With John Larroquette As Dan Fielding, Harry Stone’s Daughter As Focus & Melissa Rauch As EP
Night Court is back in session. NBC is developing a follow-up to the classic legal comedy series, with co-star John Larroquette set to reprise his Emmy-winning role and produce. The Big Bang Theory alumna Melissa Rauch executive produces the reboot for Warner Bros TV.
Written/executive produced by Dan Rubin (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the multi-camera Night Court centers on the unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).
The original Night Court, which aired on NBC for nine seasons from 1984-92 and earned three Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy nominations, followed the proceedings during the night shift of a Manhattan municipal court, led by a young, unorthodox judge, Harold “Harry” T. Stone. He was played by Harry Anderson, who died in 2018 at age 65. Abby is a newly created character who was not part of the original show.
Melissa Rauch and Winston Rauch executive produce via their After January production company, which is based at Warner Bros. TV. After January produces in association with WBTV, which was also the studio behind the original series. There are no plans for Melissa Rauch to act in the project, which she initiated.
Under her company’s WBTV deal, she approached the studio about the Night Court IP as she grew up a fan of the show and felt that a new incarnation could work well today.
Night Court is one of several projects After January has in development at WBTV. Melissa Rauch is coming off Warner Bros TV’s blockbuster comedy series The Big Bang Theory, which aired on CBS for 12 seasons. She recently appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat alongside Meryl Streep. Rauch starred, produced and co-wrote along with husband Winston Rauch, The Bronze – which was the official opening-night film of the Sundance Film Festival and was released by Sony Pictures Classics. She recently produced, co-wrote (with Winston) and starred in a stage production of a political satire titled The Secret Lunches of Chelsea & Ivanka at Joe’s Pub in NYC. She is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman.
Larroquette won four consecutive Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmys for his signature role on Night Court. He recently joined the cast of CBS All Access’ The Good Fight and starred on the CBS comedy series Me, Myself & I. Larroquette landed his fifth Emmy for his recurring role on ABC’s The Practice. He is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Rubin worked on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for the comedy’s entire run. He continued his collaboration with Kimmy Schmidt‘s Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Sam Means on their Netflix animated series Mulligan. His series credits also include Fox’s series Outmatched, Happy Endings, Scrubs, Worst Week and The Michael J. Fox Show. Rubin is repped by Rise Management, UTA and Jared Levine.

paul.austin 12-17-2020, 02:58 AM Kind of pointless now. Harry Anderson is dead and, as talented as John Larroquette is, the man is over seventy years old. He can't play the character of Dan Fielding like he did 30 years ago.
No one wants to see a senior citizen hitting on women, at least I don't.
If NBC is rebooting Night Court, shouldn't the original be available to stream somewhere? (https://www.pastemagazine.com/comedy/night-court/night-court-reboot/)
The potential sequel series starring John Larroquette that Deadline revealed (https://deadline.com/2020/12/night-court-sequel-john-larraquette-dan-fielding-harry-stone-daughter-melissa-rauch-nbc-reboot-1234657152/) earlier this week "could totally be a good show," says Garrett Martin. "Maybe instead of remaking Night Court, though, they should just make the original watchable somewhere? Night Court isn’t streaming anywhere. It’s not on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, CBS All Access, Disney+, Apple TV, Kanopy, Shudder, Crunchyroll, Acorn, BritBox, VRV, AMC+, Crave, DC Universe, Fox Nation, WWE Network, or even NBC’s own streamer, Peacock. It wasn’t even on Seeso. You can buy episodes or seasons online, but if you’re just a casual fan, or somebody who’s never seen it and want to check it out based on its reputation, you can’t find it on any streaming service you subscribe to—no matter how many you subscribe to. Watching Night Court in 2020 is neither easy nor cheap enough. That’s disappointing. I’m not going to act like Night Court would be as big on streaming today as other old sitcoms like Seinfeld or Friends—hell, even Cheers, the most popular sitcom of the ‘80s and early ‘90s, and one of the two or three best ones ever made, has faded a bit despite streaming on multiple services for as long as streaming has been a thing, and Cheers was always bigger than Night Court. And I’m sure a lot of Night Court has aged terribly—you were never supposed to admire Dan Fielding and his philandering, but his insistent sexual harassment of basically every woman to ever enter the court is utterly out of step with the times now. But Night Court was huge in its day, running for nine seasons on NBC, often as part of the Must See TV lineup at its peak alongside shows like Cheers and The Cosby Show, and yet today it’s basically unknown to people who weren’t alive when it originally aired. It has no relevance and no cachet to audiences under the age of 35, and part of that problem has to be that it can’t be watched the way most people watch TV today."
Kind of pointless now. Harry Anderson is dead and, as talented as John Larroquette is, the man is over seventy years old. He can't play the character of Dan Fielding like he did 30 years ago.

As much as I like Night Court and the work of John Larroquette, I do not see this show lasting long.

Every Question Night Court's Reboot Can Resolve (https://screenrant.com/night-court-reboot-questions-mysteries-resolve/)
Is Any Part Of The 30 Rock Night Court Finale Canon?
Many are only familiar with Night Court because of a season 3 episode of 30 Rock, appropriately titled "The One with the Cast of Night Court." The episode had Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) producing a new Night Court series finale, in a bid to lift the spirits of the depressed Kenneth The Page (Jack McBrayer), who was sad that Night Court never got a proper ending. Harry Anderson, Markie Post and Charles Robinson played parodies of themselves, who agreed to reprise their Night Court roles only for old grievances to nearly tank the project. Things ended happily, however, with the finale ending with Judge Harry Stone declaring himself and defense attorney Christine Sullivan to be husband and wife.
The 30 Rock episode "The One with the Cast of Night Court" exaggerated how silly Night Court could be at times, recalling a non-existent storyline in which Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) played a werewolf lawyer. One thing the episode did not blow out of proportion, however, was how erratic the actual final season of Night Court was and how its final episode ended with multiple plotlines unresolved. Ironically, this was because the show's producers were ready to end the show after eight seasons and the final episodes of season 8 were meant to build up to the wedding of Harry and Christine and Dan renouncing his old life to become a priest. When Night Court was unexpectedly renewed, the show was thrown into sharp relief and the first few episodes of Night Court season 9 were devoted towards restoring the status quo. Strangely enough, almost the exact opposite chain of events played out at the end of Night Court season 9.
The two-part episode "Opportunity Knock Knocks" ended with multiple cliffhangers which suggested a season 10 was in the works. This was because Warner Bros. was shopping the series around, hoping to continue in syndication or another network besides NBC. When these plans fell through, the show was abruptly cancelled — a decision the cast was informed of in a memo, handed out just before the final taping. To add insult to injury, the ensemble were also asked to have their dressing rooms cleared out by Monday. It was an unceremonious ending for the once beloved show and, ironically, one that would not be out of place in an episode of 30 Rock. Yet "The One with the Cast of Night Court" does raise the question of whether or not Christine and Harry ever did get married, as fans had hoped, and if something similar to the events of the 30 Rock episode will have happened in the backstory of the Night Court reboot.
The Harry/Christine/Dan Love Triangle & Abby Stone's Mother
Even ignoring the 30 Rock episode, the biggest question fans of the original Night Court have regarding the reboot is how the love triangle between Harry, Dan and Christine will be resolved. The original TV series ended with Christine being elected to Congress and resigning her position as the public defender in Harry's court. Dan also resigned his post as prosecutor, having had a revelation that he was truly in love with Christine and that he needed to follow her to Washington DC to prove himself to her. This followed Christine privately giving Harry a more than-friendly kiss, during which she declared that he was the person she was most going to miss the most in her new job.
The Night Court reboot is said to center around Harry Stone's daughter Abby following in his footsteps to become a judge, but nothing has been said in the show synopsis about who her mother was. Did Harry and Christine finally tie the knot and have a daughter together? If so, why isn't Christine mentioned in the spinoff summary? Did Harry move on to a new love after Christine?
How Will Dan Fielding Have Changed In 30 Years?
The news that John Larroquette is returning as Dan Fielding in the Night Court reboot is something of an incongruity. On the one hand, Dan was the breakout character of the original series' ensemble and Larroquette is an amazing actor, so it makes sense that the reboot producers would want to include him in the new production. On the other hand, Dan was a divisive and politically incorrect character before the term "politically correct" had been coined.
At a glance, it's hard to see how any comedy today could include a rampant womanizer like Dan Fielding as part of its cast. What many miss, however, is that Dan Fielding was a nuanced character and the reason why Laroquette's performance was so acclaimed was because of how he could believably play Dan as a jerk with a heart of gold, who was still capable of outstanding moments of heroism and generosity even while acting in a cynical and sleazy manner. While Dan was depicted as having an eye for the ladies, he never played games with the law and took pride in his work as a prosecutor. It's also worth noting that Dan largely renounced his wicked ways over the course of Night Court season 8 and he appeared ready to make a similar change to his life as the show ended.
The character description for Dan Fielding in the reboot announcement describes him as a "former night court prosecutor," yet he is still said to be a part of Abby Stone's court team. Could Dan have returned to his old digs, having followed his heart and earned Christine's love and lived out a life with her, or has he taken on a new career? Is he still a skirt-chaser as a silver fox, or will he have turned over a new leaf and become more sensitive with time? The classic TV show reboot could either emphasize Dan's status as a relic of an older age struggling for relevancy while mocking what he was, or it could forge new ground by showing how he has evolved, while still remaining the same scheming lecher that fans of the classic series loved. Either prospect seems equally likely and equally hilarious.
What About The Rest Of The Cast?
The two part "Opportunity Knock Knocks" finale was largely devoted to Christine's Congressional campaign and Dan's revelation that he truly loved Christine, but also proposed big changes to the lives of most of Night Court's ensemble. Judge Harry Stone was suddenly deluged with job offers, including a partnership in a prestigious law firm and a promotion to the New York State Superior Court, but he ultimately decided to remain in his current job where he felt he was truly making a difference. Bailiff Bull Shannon (Richard Moll) was called to a higher purpose, literally, leaving Earth with aliens from the planet Jupiter who needed a tall guy to reach the things on their highest shelves. Nothing was said about them also taking Bull's wife, Wanda, whom he married earlier in season 9.
Court clerk Mac Robinson (Charles Robinson) didn't entertain any new job offers, but he did quit law school to pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker. This built upon a season 9 subplot involving how the video of Bull and Wanda's wedding, which Mac had filmed as an artsy auteur project, had accidentally been released in an arthouse theater and developed a cult following akin to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Bailiff Roz Russell (Marsha Warfield) didn't have a major subplot and was barely in the finale apart from a scene in which she assured Harry that she wasn't planning on leaving anytime soon, having just bought five new pairs of handcuffs.
It's unknown if any of the rest of the original Night Court cast is planning on reprising their roles for the reboot apart from John Larroquette, but the show will have to address what happened to the rest of the original team, if only with an off-hand joke or Easter egg. While it's highly unlikely Mac, Roz and Bull are still working their old jobs, there's still a chance they might pop in to see how Harry's daughter or Dan are doing. This seems more likely than an unexpected cameo with them showing up in court, perhaps after a fight broke out between Mac and Tommy Wiseau at his latest film premiere, regarding who was the real king of cult cinema.
Couldn't agree more.
It would be nice if Markie Post could make a guest appearance on an episode of the show.

‘Night Court’: EP Melissa Rauch Set To Star With John Larroquette In Sequel At NBC
The new Night Court has set up a dream leading duo. The follow-up to the classic legal comedy series, which has been heating up for a pilot order at NBC for several weeks, will star Melissa Rauch and the original series’ co-star John Larroquette, reprising his Emmy-winning role, I have learned.
This marks the first post-The Big Bang Theory TV role for Rauch, the driving force behind the reboot, who initially was only set to executive produce for Warner Bros TV but decided to take on the lead role after reading the script, I hear. Reps for NBC and WBTV declined comment.
Written/executive produced by Dan Rubin based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the multi-camera Night Court centers on the unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (Rauch), daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).

JamesG 06-08-2021, 06:32 PM Ana Villafañe Joins NBC "Night Court" Sequel Pilot
by Nellie Andreeva
June 8, 2021
Ana Villafañe (Broadway's On Your Feet!, Younger) is set as a series regular in NBC’s half-hour pilot "Night Court", a follow-up to the classic legal comedy series which is headlined and executive produced by "The Big Bang Theory’s" Melissa Rauch, with the original series’ John Larroquette reprising his Emmy-winning role.
Villafañe will play Monica, the court’s assistant district attorney. Type A, superficial and tightly wound. Monica sees the night court as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. She’s above this place and all the people in it, but it’s a good way to get some courtroom experience under her belt. It’s all part of her plan to land a job at one of the big firms.
Thirty will be here before she knows it and if she’s not wildly successful by then… well it’s best not to think about it.

‘Night Court’: Lacretta Joins NBC Sequel Pilot
30 Rock and Gotham actress Lacretta will play Donna “Gurgs” Gurganous, the court’s bailiff, who takes her job very seriously, according to Deadline, which adds: "Big-hearted, intense and not big on boundaries, Gurgs is easily riled up and fiercely protective of her night court colleagues. She lives with multiple large dogs in a small Bay Ridge apartment."

‘Night Court’ Sequel With Melissa Rauch & John Larroquette Ordered to Series at NBC
by Meredith Jacobs
NBC is back in session with Night Court.
The network has ordered a follow-up to the 1980s and ’90s comedy starring Harry Anderson to series. Based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, it stars Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) as the daughter of the late Harry Stone (Anderson) — and John Larroquette is returning!
This new Night Court follows Rauch’s Abby Stone, described as an “unapologetically optimistic judge.” She follows in her father’s footsteps, presiding over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and “tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Larroquette),” the logline for the half-hour, multi-camera comedy teases.
The original series aired nine seasons from 1984 to 1992 on NBC. In addition to Anderson and Larroquette, it also starred Charles Robinson, Markie Post, Richard Moll, and Marsha Warfield.
The new Night Court is produced by Warner Bros. Television, Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and After January Productions. Executive producers include Dan Rubin, Melissa Rauch, and Winston Rauch (after January). Larroquette is a producer. Dan Rubin wrote the pilot. Pamela Fryman executive produced and directed the pilot.

‘Night Court’: NBC Skeds Sitcom For 2022-23 Season
Night Court, the follow-up to the classic legal sitcom, will air on NBC in the 2022-23 season.
When the series, which stars and is exec produced by The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch, was first ordered, the broadcast network had yet to decide whether it would air in midseason or in the next season.
After launching its midseason schedule today, Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, confirmed that it will bow next season.
“We love Night Court and really do believe in it. It will be on next year’s schedule,” she told Deadline on a post-midseason schedule call.
Multicamera series Night Court comes from Rauch and Outmatched and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt co-EP Dan Rubin. It was first developed last December, scored a pilot order in May and was picked up to series in September.
Based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, Night Court centers on unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding, with John Larroquette reprising his role.
Rauch and Winston Rauch exec produce via their After January production company with Rubin, who wrote the pilot, also exec producing. Larroquette is a producer on the half-hour laugher, which comes from Warner Bros Television, Universal Television and After January.
The pilot, which was directed and exec produced by Pamela Fryman, also stars Ana Villafañe (Younger), Lacretta (Gotham) and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist‘s Kapil Talwalkar.
Rovner added that there had been no decisions yet on NBC’s other pilot orders including drama Dangerous Moms, Demi Lovato’s Hungry and romantic comedy Someone Out There.
India de Beaufort joins Night Court in a recasting (https://deadline.com/2022/03/night-court-india-de-beaufort-nbc-comedy-sequel-recasting-1234974933/)
The Veep, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and One Day at a Time vet will play prosecutor Olivia. She replaces Ana Villafañe, who played the part (then named Monica) in the pilot.

Night Court: Dan Fielding Towers Over Melissa Rauch's Judge Abby Stone in NBC Sequel — 2023 FIRST LOOK (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/night-court-dan-fielding-towers-160053727.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall)
In his latest battle with a Judge Stone, Night Court‘s Dan Fielding certainly has a height advantage.
As part of our 2023 First Look series, TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek at NBC’s continuation of the hit ’80s courtroom comedy, with The Big Bang Theory‘s Melissa Rauch starring as Judge Abby Stone (the daughter of the original series’ Judge Harry Stone) and John Larroquette returning as slick attorney Dan Fielding. In the photo above, Dan is casting a skeptical — maybe even disgusted — look in Abby’s direction as they stand in what looks a lot like Harry’s old judge’s chambers. Plus, the vast difference in their heights only adds to the comedy. (For the record: Larroquette is 6’4″, while Rauch is 4’11”.)
In the new series, premiering Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 8/7c, “Judge Abby Stone follows in the footsteps of her late father Judge Harry Stone as she takes over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court,” per the official description. (Harry Anderson, who starred as Harry in the original Night Court, passed away in 2018.) The new-look Night Court features a surprising new role for Dan Fielding as well: “When the court finds itself in need of a public defender, Abby sees potential in an unlikely candidate from her father’s past: former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding.”
DJM77 12-12-2022, 09:44 PM Is Melissa Rauch's character supposed to be a lot younger than she is in real life? She's 42 and I don't think that there was ever any mention of Harry having any kids during Night Court (unless you count Leon).

John Larroquette & Melissa Rauch Explain Why the 'Night Court' Revival Works (https://www.tvinsider.com/1075409/night-court-reboot-changes-melissa-rauch-john-larroquette/)
Hawkee 01-16-2023, 05:05 AM When it came to sitcoms in the 80's there were tons of sitcoms that were funny and cool and some that were funny but had an alright storyline. Night Court is one of those 80's sitcoms that was so funny it actually was great. I think with the new Night Court reboot it will capture the clever and witty storyline that the original Night Court had but bringing back John Larroquette to reprise his original Night Court role is a surprise. And I think John will jumpstart his career in sitcoms due to the Night Court remake. I just hope they don't ruin the theme song because the original theme song was jazzy and cool and I hope they don't remix it and ruin it

Night Court TV Review (https://www.joblo.com/night-court-tv-review/)
icecream 01-18-2023, 03:16 AM NBC did not have good ads for Night Court. But the show was a lot better than the ads would have suggested. Melissa Rauch is a charming lead, never would have guessed that from The Big Bang Theory.

Yong Fang 01-18-2023, 06:00 AM I have watched two episode of it and so far am not impressed. It just to me isnt funny, and the Dan Fielding character is just sad. Maybe you might think differently. I am not giving up on it however.
The woman who plays the prosecutor is beautiful however.

Having watched the first two episodes I agree, I'm not very impressed so far. While some of his foibles seemed to remain true to the character of Dan, I found him pretty sad overall too. I actually did get a little chuckle at the maintenance man, especially at the end of the second episode, but on the whole I don't find it very funny.
I will tune in again next week and maybe my impressions will change somewhat.

The new Night Court pays its respects to the late Harry Anderson
Actor Harry Anderson was beloved on the original "Night Court" and other famous shows like "Cheers," and his death in 2018 (https://www.looper.com/118281/harry-anderson-night-court-actor-dead-65/) at the age of 65 due to a stroke was a loss for the television landscape. The new "Night Court" revival decided that instead of recasting the role of Judge Harry Stone, they instead would reflect real life. This has not been lost on those who remember the original show, with quite a few expressing their thoughts on social media.
On Reddit, u/mtm4440 (https://www.reddit.com/r/NightCourt/comments/10etp5j/comment/j4t04o2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) tried to place some of the random items in Judge Abby Stone's office, and u/rattrap007 (https://www.reddit.com/r/NightCourt/comments/10etp5j/comment/j4t5lxg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) replied, "Armadillo was always in Harry's office so that made me smile. The pool ball was later explained. In one ep Harry gets depressed and quits. He becomes a pool hustler. Dan basically calls him out for quitting and gives him a speech that brings him back. The ball is a memento Harry kept to remember this."
Furthermore, u/Kitsunisan (https://www.reddit.com/r/NightCourt/comments/10etp5j/comment/j4tbxcg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) brought up the rapid fire nature of the jokes on this new "Night Court," and felt like if the show slowed down, the laughs would be a bit more robust. They then mentioned that Harry Anderson had great comedic timing, and added, "The guy was a stand up comic and a street performer first, and that way of delivery comes through in his lines. Melissa is a sitcom actor going through the paces here, she needs to relax into it." Still, it seems as if many still fondly remember Judge Harry, and are happy to see him referenced on this new show.
Night Court Vet Marsha Warfield Weighs In on NBC Revival — Might She Return? (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/night-court-vet-marsha-warfield-135510312.html)
Night Court vet Marsha Warfield has rendered her verdict on NBC’s revival, which premiered this Tuesday night and earned an average TVLine reader grade of “B-.”
“I hear there’s a new Night Court in town! Congratulations,” Warfield, who played bailiff Roz on the original series, shared on TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/@marshawarfield/video/7189852524269145390). “I hope that it was as wonderful as it sounds, and I wish the cast and crew and everybody involved all the best.”
To former castmate John Larroquette, who on the revival is reprising his role as legal eagle Dan Fielding, Warfield said, “I can’t imagine a new show doing better than having you to build around. I hope everybody gets to learn as much from you as I did when I worked with you.”
Warfield was between sets at a comedy club Tuesday night, and thus admitted, “I didn’t have a chance to catch the first episode, but I will. But like I said, all the best to you, good luck, and I hope you have as much fun this time around as we did the first time.” (Watch her full TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/@marshawarfield/video/7189852524269145390).)
Every Original Night Court Reference In The Reboot Show (https://screenrant.com/night-court-reboot-references-easter-eggs/)
The pilot episode of NBC’s Night Court reboot contains a number of references and Easter eggs honoring the original classic courtroom comedy.
Yong Fang 01-24-2023, 05:02 AM I watched some clips of the old Night Court show from the 1990's.
I sort of forgotten how much of a weasel that John Larroquette's character Dan was. He wasnt past redemption but he was incredibly snarky and mean at times. He told a man who was a midget who asked him for directions in the building to just follow the yellow brick road (the small man turned out to be his new boss and new worst nightmare). Plus the way he was so misanthropic with attractive women. He was a jerk.
Also, I have forgotten the crazy comedy in the old show. It was actually quite unique in a way which is why it lasted so long. The cast was also great and worked well as an ensamble。
Unfortunaty, what made the old show so funny would be pillored by the leftist politically correct crowd. The scene I mentioned with Dan and his midget boss. This would be "small people phobic", or the slimy way old Dan was with the ladies would be again pillored as anti-woman.
This new show seems to the shadow of the old show.

It's been addressed numerous times in the past, but it's very hard for a character like Dan Fielding (https://nightcourt.fandom.com/wiki/Dan_Fielding) to work (http://nostalgiarush.blogspot.com/2015/07/five-un-pc-things-night-court-could.html) in a post-#MeToo world (https://screenrant.com/night-court-rehab-old-problematic-characters-after-metoo-blueprint/). Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother was probably the closest (https://www.reddit.com/r/whowouldwin/comments/2qi13u/dan_fielding_night_court_vs_barney_stinson_how_i/) Dan Fielding-esque sitcom character that I'm aware of to emerge in the years since the original Night Court went off the air, but even HIMYM as a in itself show, hasn't aged very well (https://www.cbr.com/how-i-met-your-mother-aged-poorly/).
The revival probably has the right idea to present an "older and wiser" version of Dan. I mean, a person is bound to change and evolve over 30 year anyway. Plus, it would just feel even more creepy and pathetic to see a now 75 year old John Larroquette still act like a skeevy horndog around the ladies.
How Melissa Rauch's Judge Abby Stone Made 2023's Night Court Her Own (https://www.cbr.com/night-court-2023-judge-abby-stone/)
Abby Stone greeted viewers with do-gooder goals and a sweet smile, but Night Court's new judge proves she has the crazy heart to conduct its chaos.
Alan Brady's Hair 02-07-2023, 09:17 PM Am I getting soft, or does this episode have a pulse?
Avilos 02-08-2023, 07:04 AM Am I getting soft, or does this episode have a pulse?
The Apartment episode? Each episode has shown improvements. It occurred to me the weakest character had been Harry’s daughter. For a Judge she is too nice to everyone. So it’s a huge relief for her to show real anger. Actual emotion of any kind. I hope they stick with that. Not that she is angry all the time but has a real personality.
Also Dan is finally showing real energy too. It’s slowly been coming to the surface week to week. But this week coaching the DA it’s clear he was doing it for his own ego. That is Dan! Sure he is much older and wiser. Times have changed. But no reason Dan’s huge ego can not flourish in other ways.
Avilos 02-13-2023, 01:18 AM Anyone know how many episodes are in the first season? I have been searching online and old posts in this thread and can not find any answer.
One thing I did find is someone attended taping episode of episode 7. Way back in May 2022. https://robonlocation.com/tv-tapings/night-court/
So I have no idea where they are in schedule now. It was known for long time NBC held back the show to mid season. They easily had finished enough episodes to start airing last Fall if they wanted to do so.
