I couldn't help comparing them to the Sweet Valley high twins, but to me, BLAIR is exactly like JESSICA WAKEFIELD: boy crazy and naughty at times, but with a golden heart; she is also materialistic and loves money!
Her best friend is LILA, who is filthy rich and the biggest snob in town!

SUE ANN on the other hand is the bright and academic sister: an A- student who is very sensitive and always eager to help the less fortunate ones; her best friend is ENID, who is also a book warmer and kind of a nerd!

Both sisters couldn't be more different and have a friendly rivalry (just like SUE ANN and BLAIR) but they will always stand by each other!

LILA is also the antagonism of ENID: she thinks of her as the goody two shoes, who doesn't have much luck with the boys...

What do you guys think about the comparison?

I guess the books were more for girls, but the TV show would have been for both (girls and boys): although young audience as it was based in a high school in sunny California.....

PS: i can't believe no one has heard of it even??? Hello!!!! Any girls on board?????

You don't have to be a girl to watch Sweet Valley High. I remember this show but I wasn't a fan. If I remember correctly, I think it was a teenage soap opera in syndication like Swan's Crossing. They were trying to capture the 90210 trend in the early 90's.

Sweet Valley High was NOTHING like Beverly Hills 90210: it was far better, and the stories very different lol!
For instance: the story dealt about the personalities of twins sisters and their life, but i have to say that the books were far better than the TV show (but it's always like that, isn't it?) more powerful, and there was so much going on in JESSICA's life = BLAIR in a lot of ways.....
