Other advertisers might have felt similarly. stevea 12-12-2020, 07:55 PM Wonder how long that lasted with its soaps. GentlemanJim 12-12-2020, 08:07 PM Wonder how long that lasted with its soaps. You know who is in that picture...lol! https://i.imgur.com/XLkq1d7.jpg There is a VERY good book out there, can't recall the title right now, but I was reading it through google online books, about just how hard it was (for an ad agency) to maintain P&G's blessings. They were a diversified behemoth, paying a lions share of most national advertising campaigns both on the networks and in magazines. And they were extremely arrogant, assuming they knew the way the world should "rightly" spin, on most matters, not just controversial topics...but MOST topics. It's humorous, and at the same time sad that such a small group of people felt entitled to write the script for the world around them. Probably the next to be sold, like Zest soap was. (I don't even know if ...Snow is made anymore.) GentlemanJim 12-12-2020, 09:40 PM Now we hear about enjoying the use of Charmin. If you can find it in the store, that is the "clean heinie" bears are (imo) an undeniable indicator that our society is in intellectual decline. GentlemanJim 12-12-2020, 09:45 PM I have a hunch the Ivory line doesn't do very well for them. But still, one of my very first conscious memories in life is in the bathtub with a bar of soap that floats. So they must have known their stuff. GentlemanJim 12-12-2020, 09:59 PM Back on topic, I do think that it is unusual the way our society makes such a taboo over matters of sexuality and nudity. I've thought about it from time to time....and I guess it was "harder" on me to explain sex to my own kids, than it was for me to try and hide my developing interest from my parents. Just something that makes you feel like you are exploiting the kid by destroying their innocence. GentlemanJim 12-13-2020, 04:13 PM I recall several of those old, black and white "instructional" movies they used to show in school, many that they would never get away with today.
