I remember back in 1997 when I heard that Teri Garr was cast as Phoebe's biological Mom, thinking that it was perfect casting; after all, Garr had spent an entire career playing the ditzy girl, paving the way for actresses like Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe.

And she lived up to my expectations.

I was disappointed that she only appeared on a few episodes and that they never explored the relationship further. She didn't even appear in the episode where Phoebe got married during the last season.

We got to see quite a bit of Monica and Ross's parents and even got to see Rachel's from time to time, so I wonder why we never got to see Phoebe Sr. after season 4.

I always wondered this as well. Phoebe Sr should definitely have been at Phoebe's wedding, and likely before the wedding, as well: when Monica and Chandler got together, we certainly saw episodes where Monica's parents had to bond with him. We even saw Chandler's parents around the time of the wedding, and also at their wedding. We also saw Rachel's mom, dad, and sisters on multiple occasions.

At Phoebe's wedding, no-one from her family attends: not her birth mother or father, not Frank Junior or Alice, and not Ursula. Do Mike's parents even attend?

I think Mike's Dad is seen, but has no dialogue. But I could be remembering this wrong.

Yeah, I think it was a missed opportunity to flesh out Phoebe's family's side of things. I didn't mind that we stopped seeing Frank Jr., because I always found him to be an annoying, stupid character.
