Probably the two most intelligent sitcom characters would be Sheldon Cooper of the Big Bang Theory and Arthur Dietrich of Barney Miller. It would have been fascinating to have the two characters talk to each other.

While Sheldon gets a small edge for IQ, Dietrich knows about a lot more subjects than Sheldon. I doubt Sheldon knows anything about the Trilateral Commission for example. Dietrich also knows a lot more about many subjects that Sheldon isn’t interested in and didn’t learn. Sheldon was a scientist and knew about science while Dietrich was an intelligent “Jack of all trades” who read up on many subjects.

Other geniuses........

Frasier and Lillith Crane, but both of them only really knew about psychiatry and not a lot of general knowledge.

Major Winchester from MASH. He knew everything about medicine and some psychiatric issues (interesting to have Winchester and Frasier in a room), but probably didn’t have as wide of knowledge of everything as Sheldon or Dietrich. Winchester may have one up Frasier on psychiatry since he was a medical doctor.

Which other sitcoms characters were brilliant? We can include the other characters of Big Bang Theory but I think we can assertion that Sheldon IQ was higher that the rest of them.

Thoughts?

The show "Head Of The Class" was about a group of gifted students so we can include the whole class on the list.

I also believe that Sheldon Cooper was smarter as a child on "Young Sheldon" than as an adult on "The Big Bang Theory".

Ross was the smartest in the earlier seasons of Friends. However, that character devolved after a few years. David the Scientist Guy only appeared occasionally, but he was a physicist.
