F.
Season 1: Emily Dickinson
Season 2: Shoplifting and Gossip. These two are classic FOL episodes.
Season 3: Dear Me
Season 4: For The Asking - I think this is Mindy's best performance of the Eastland years
Season 5: Store Games
Season 6: This is hard. Season 6 has a lot of great episodes. I'll go with Sisters.
Season 7: 3, 2, 1
Season 8: This is another season that's hard because season 8 is a classic. I'll go with Fast Food. Seven Little Indians is a huge fan favorite that season. This would be my second favorite of season 8.
Season 9: Golden Oldies is the funniest of season 9, but Rumor Has It is my favorite. They took a serious approach to how a rumor in a professional environment can ruin a person's career and personal life.
TV Movie: The Facts of Life Down Under

L.
Season 1: Molly's Holiday
Season 2: Brian and Sylvia
Season 3: Jo's Cousin
Season 4: The Big Fight
Season 5: All or Nothing
Season 6: The Interview Show
Season 7: Born Too Late
Season 8: 62 Pick-Up
Season 9: Let's Face The Music - awful episode.
TV Movie: The Facts of Life Reunion

Almost positive if there was a poll that every FOL fan answered on which episode was the worst in the series, this would win. For me, if it doesn't have a good amount of airtime for Mrs. G & the girls, it's not worth watching.

Yes. The backdoor pilots feel like wasted episodes because they A) didn't result in a new series, and B) spent an entire episode on FOL on characters we'd never see or hear from again.

Okay here it goes:

Season 1: 'Rough housing' (it's the ice breaking moment between BLAIR & MRS G) and 'Like mother, like daughter' (i love how MRS G takes BLAIR under her wings and is a mother figure to her, when her own mother isn't).

Season 2: 'The new girl, part 1 & 2': i love how MRS G decides to simply take care of 4 unruly girls after they get in trouble, and from that moment on she becomes their surrogate mother.

Season 3: 'The 4 musketeers', we see how the 4 girls have bonded like sisters, and MRS G does everything to keep them together so she can continue with her role as surrogate mother.

Season 4: 'Graduation', i love the ending, when MRS G gives each of her 2 eldest girls (JO/BLAIR) a gift with a special speech...

Season 5: 'Gamma gamma' (i love how MRS G and BLAIR fight and make up in the end) and 'The chain letter', because it shows us how remorseful the girls are after their irresponsible behaviour, and it's heartwarming how they do anything to keep from losing MRS G.

Season 6: 'Working it out' (it's a BLAIR/MRS G episode) and 'The interview show', because you see for the last time the real MRS G, before she turns into a complete POD....

Season 7: 'Out of fire', because we can still have a last glimpse of 'Edna's Edibles', and i love the ending scene, when MRS G gives each girl a speech and you can hear their thoughts.

Season 8: 'This is only a test': i love the fact that you see how strong the friendship between JO & BLAIR is, when our 'Bronx girl' decides to help our 'pampered princess' with her law test lol!

Season 9: 'The beginning of the end', because we finally we get a last glimpse of the 'Golden era from season 1', when 'Eastland' still looked like a real cozy/homey boarding school with its lovely stairs were girls were running up and down...
We also get to see now a responsible BLAIR takes over the role of MRS G, when she has to deal with a bunch of unruly girls, and in a way we are brought back to the pilot where it all began.....

Oops! I forgot least favourites, but i'll make it brief:

Season 1: 'Dieting'
Season 2:: ''Bryan & Silvia'
Season 3: 'Sweet sorrow'
Season 4:'A woman's place'
Season 5:'All or nothing'
Season 6: 'A slice of life'
Season 7: 'Ballroom dancing'
Season 8: 'The rating games' (i hated it how BLAIR was a complete airhead pod in this episode!)
Season 9: 'Let's face the music'

The end....

Good choice! Not only the very first episode, but an incredibly ground-breaking episode as well.

Season 4: 'Graduation', i love the ending, when MRS G gives each of her 2 eldest girls (JO/BLAIR) a gift with a special speech...

A very touching moment. (At least the rock is.)

Season 5: 'Gamma gamma' (i love how MRS G and BLAIR fight and make up in the end)

I love this episode, too.

least favourites,
Season 2:: ''Bryan & Silvia'

Looking at the historical posts for this board, many people listed "Brian and Sylvia" as the worse.

It seems I forgotten that. 20 years ago it was all about the Brian & Sylvia hate here. I don't mind that episode because it's at least in relation to one of the FOL characters. The Stone Academy is just a male version of the FOL and that's not what I want to see. If the backdoor pilot to a show doesn't take off, don't give episodes meant for that show the chance of airing in the parent show.

Yes. I believe this episode was years -- maybe even a decade -- ahead of its time. The "confessional" style seen here has been used and reused in so-called "reality TV", and I suspect its use here helped establish a format that is frequently used today. I can see why this episode would be your favorite. It really was avant garde.

Also of note, this was the last episode we'd see that was taped at Universal Studios (although this wasn't actually the last episode taped). The following season, the show was taping at Sunset Gower Studios, within four blocks of where the series had originally been taped, at Metromedia Square. There was a change of sets and a change of the whole series, with a new corporate owner and a new philosophy. When Mrs. Garrett says that big changes are coming, she sure was right!

Something like Big Brother? :lol::lol::lol:.
It's my favorite episode of season 6, it truly reflects the relationship that Mrs. G. and the girls have after 6 years together. And there are several funny lines. My favorite is:

Edna: "I'm a little nervous but I'm sure I'll be fine once we've started
Journalist: "We have started"
Edna: "Fine, just fine"

I have noticed two dislike for 'Like mother, like daughter' and i'm rather surprised that both of you 80s don't like it: it was the ice breaking moment between MRS G and BLAIR, and when they start bonding lol!

Again, 'A friend in deed' is another good one: we see a very caring and mature BLAIR help her mother out by serving as a shoulder to cry on!

I found 'The first time' on the other hand rather boring: what's the big deal about NATALIE getting serious for the first time, and JO acting like a real Pod when she asks her for help?

This is sometimes a problem when discussing "least favorites". Some people see it as "which one you hate", when sometimes it's still something liked, it just happens to be the least of them for that particular person.

I like LMLD, it just happens to be my least favorite. The taping audience was terrible and it makes the episode have an awkward, uncomfortable feel about it the whole time. And that's not my Blair's mom! lol

Yes, and like most fans I'm a fan of Marj Dusay as Blair's mom. It's just that the episode is so heavy with anxiety and fear that it's not as enjoyable to watch.

"Write and Wrong" is so messed up. I can see why it would be high on most people's "least fave" lists. "The Big Fight" is wasted Peekskill real estate. But it's also got some classic Cindy, along with classics with many of the girls. Each girl truly has a chance to shine in her own character, though wtih Sue Ann shining the least (there's not much character-wise for her here, though she does get to use one Kansas City reference at least). And I love the group feel to it. It's the most "ensemble cast" of all 13 episodes. I love that. :grouphug:

"Write and Wrong" is so messed up. I can see why it would be high on most people's "least fave" lists. "The Big Fight" is wasted Peekskill real estate. I'm not at all surprised "Small But Dangerous" made your list, all things considered. I know you like Monica, so I am genuinely surprised "A Friend in deed" is so far down your list.

There's just so much fear and anxiety in it, which doesn't make it that enjoyable to watch compared to so many of the others. It's a shame that's Marj's only episode that season.

:grouphug:

As always, you raise good points! Seeing the girls band together to save Eastland is a pretty cool moment, too.

Okay, fair enough.

Me too! I LOVE favorites and lists! :loveya: It's just very hard for me when it comes to something like ranking your 13 children in an order of favorites.

It really is tough!

Season 3: New York, New York - Loved the introduction of the look-alike characters

Season 9: Golden Oldies - Loved the parody of Golden Girls

LEAST FAVORITE

Season 1: Rough Housing - The episode is a little homophobic
Season 2: Teenage Marriage (1 & 2) - Eddie was a scuzzball and tried to rape Jo
Season 3: Starstruck - Tootie's performance was so over-the-freaking-top (reminded me of Jessie from SBTB when she OD'd on caffeine pills)
Season 4: Best Sister - Totally out of character for Jo to become a nun
Season 5: Dream Marriage - This episode was so stupid, and they were so horribly off about the year 2000
Season 6: Jazzbeau - This episode was boring
Season 7: Come Back to the Truck Stop, Natalie Green, Natalie Green - So over-the-top it's not even funny
Season 8: The Little Chill - Don't like the alienation that Jo faced
Season 9: The Beginning of the End & The Beginning of the Beginning - The last episode sucked because it was a poor spin-off attempt with not all cast members

I love her performance. And to be fair, it was hysteria, lol

Season 4: Best Sister - Totally out of character for Jo to become a nun

I know! UGH. This was gonna be my go-to least favorite of 3 if it wasn't for that boring snooze-fest "The Big Fight".

Season 5: Dream Marriage - This episode was so stupid, and they were so horribly off about the year 2000

Maybe that's our society's fault and not FOL's!

Season 6: Jazzbeau - This episode was boring

AGREED---I'm actually surprised more folks haven't picked this one.

I was originally shocked by that, too, but '80sSitcoms feels it isn't enough, too much has changed, etc.

Personally, for me, seeing the return of the Lost Girls feels like closure. Like an acknowledgement by the producers that, "Hey, we're sorry we dumped them. Here's what happened to them. Mea culpa." But I know not everyone feels that way.

Sue Ann shining the least (there's not much character-wise for her here, though she does get to use one Kansas City reference at least).

Um, don't you mean "Kansas City, Kansas"? (We wouldn't want viewers to mistakenly believe she lives five miles away, in Kansas City, Missouri.)

Season 1: Rough Housing - The episode is a little homophobic

By modern standards, sure. But couldn't we say that about the episode of The Golden Girls where Blanche learns her brother is gay? What once was progressive eventually becomes regressive through the passage of time... because society evolves (we still have neanderthals on this forum who would claim we should go backwards). There's no way this episode would have been described as homophobic in 1979... especially when none of the other episodes, for the next decade, ever brought up lesbianism.

Of course, I understand these are your opinions, and I appreciate your list! But I gotta weigh in, because that's just me!

But I believe this is one time where Sue Ann doesn't say the state: "We had a flood back in Kansas City and 37 people were lost!"

Well, sure, the floodwaters weren't going to stay on the Kansas side of the border. Okay, then, carry on!

I can't believe you picked 'Rough housing' as your least favourite! (It's actually my favourite episode after 'Like mother, like daughter' lol!)

'Rough Housing' is also the very first episode of season 1, and MRS G delivers a spectacular performance: the way she handled each girl (BLAIR vs CINDY) was very clever, and this is also the one episode where we see all 'Lost girls' interact with one another!
ARNOLD, WILLIS, KIMBERLY and MR DRUMMOND also make a guest appearance and have quite a bit of lines lol!
