Will Clueless 2 Ever Happen? (https://www.looper.com/1510354/will-clueless-2-ever-happen/)

For what it's worth, fans can always see the "Clueless" television series, which continues the misadventures of Cher and Dee (Stacey Dash). The series, helmed by Heckerling (https://www.filmboards.com/board/20002132/), ran for three seasons and served as the perfect follow-up to the film. While speaking with Decider (https://decider.com/2020/07/20/clueless-director-amy-heckerling-interview/), Heckerling explained why the television series was the perfect way to continue the "Clueless" saga, as opposed to a film. "Yeah, I didn't really want to see the sequel of, like, Cher goes to college or whatever," the director explained. "I wanted something where these people could just go on and on doing what they're doing."

During the 90's teen comedies and dramas ruled the scene starting with Reality Bites in 1993 and soon teen oriented movies became a new 90's movie genre. and when Clueless debuted in 1995 it brought the real meaning of what teen comedies were and with Alicia Silverstone in the role of Cher Horowitz she really made Clueless really stand out though some people today might call Clueless the 90's update of Jane Austen's classic novel Emma. And not only was Clueless a hit of 1995 it introduced new 90's lingo such as "As If" Betty "which referred to a girl who was pretty" Baldwin "which meant a cute guy" and Barney " which meant a guy that was not so cute" and based on the movie's success little did we know that a sitcom of Clueless would be developed. And when Clueless the sitcom debuted on ABC as part of the TGIF lineup fans were hoping that it would be as funny as the movie. But I think why Clueless the sitcom failed was because it had a different storyline than the movie and fans were disappointed. But merchandise such as dolls books and a computer game couldn't save Clueless from weak ratings. But at least some of the Clueless stars went on to do more shows and movies. Donald Faison went on to Game Show Network to host the short-lived game show Winsanity and Paul Rudd of course went on to play Ant-Man in Marvel movies
