CosmicCharlie 12-04-2020, 10:46 PM Season 3 shows Wally like a 30-year old. he played a 14 year old but how old was he in real life ? GentlemanJim 12-05-2020, 12:16 AM Season 3 shows Wally like a 30-year old. It's easy to have poise and composure when everyone around you must work from a script. My achilles heel usually came to the forefront shortly after mom would say "Explain this that I found in your room this afternoon" :eek2: stevea 12-05-2020, 11:56 AM I remember reading he was born in 1945 so he would be 14 in 1959. In most of the show they had him in the wrong grade. He would have been 12 at the beginning, and should have been in the 7th grade--they had him in 8th. It caught up with them in the 5th season, when the show would have had him a senior and graduating. At the end of the 4th season he even mentioned the class of '62. As a result in the 5th season they never really mentioned what year of high school he was in. Cx 12-05-2020, 03:30 PM At the risk of oversimplification, I would say in answer to the OPs question: No. He seemed very much further along in the social graces of the adult world than was I. Of course, comparing the late 50s to the mid 70s would have to make allowances for the fact back then he was more "forced" ( in a way ) to fit into the box of upper middle class societal norms than me or my peers were. Also, I wasn't at all into all the extracurricular athletics like he was. Lots of structure there. In "my day" you either were into that stuff or you weren't. It wasn't stratified and there really wasn't any pressure to be among them in a way that left the non jocks marginalized. Letter jackets didn't have as much cache as hard rock concert T-shirts in my HS. Scrabjan1 12-08-2020, 10:21 AM Wally was like an adult by season 5. Of course he was a role model for teenagers buy it was like science fiction. It was like Beaver had a mother and two fathers. Even in season 4 he tells Beaver what to do like brush teeth and take a bath. I wonder what Tony thought about playing a character who was so freaking mature. He always helped Eddie out by going to see an authority figure. Sometimes he acted like a counselor like in Substitute Father. As Chopper would say ‘Boy oh boy.’ Loved seeing him actually let his hair down by pranking Lumpy. Torgo 12-08-2020, 10:30 AM That's easily a no. Dude111 12-08-2020, 03:42 PM How do we know for sure how old either was?? Alot of mystery about this show like WHERE WAS IT? (We still dont know 4 sure) Tankeryanker 12-08-2020, 10:00 PM Wally was like an adult by season 5. It was like Beaver had a mother and two fathers. In Beaver Takes a Bath he really ordered Beaver around, and gave him the burger he dropped on the floor. Yeah, Wally's Practical Joke was a great episode. |
