I remember watching Archie when I was a kid with my dad and I laughed mostly because Dad did and the faces Archie made. I didn't really understand the humor til i got older. Now I understand why my father liked him so much...he could relate to him. When I watch All In the Family, it is like watching an extended part of my family. I am gonna miss Carroll O' Connor tremendously...by the way, I also liked In The Heat of the Night-he was real good in that show too.

I can totally relate to how you feel. My parents divorced when I was a kid and we moved in with my grandparents. My grandfather reminded us of Archie, and we always used to call him that. He looked so much like my grandfather, and the relationship between Archie and Stephanie was very much like that of mine and my grandfather's relationship. When I heard the news that Carroll died, it felt like a part of my grandfather died all over again. I feel badly when a celebrity that I like dies, but none have brought me to tears like Carroll's death did. He was a special man, and I'll never forget all the laughter he gave me over the years...and also the tears..not only did he make me cry in some of the episodes of AITF..he also made me cry with him when his son died. I hope they are together now, and he is happy.
