Who was the most convincing (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DumbIsGood) in the role (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheDitz)?
TVLegend 12-01-2020, 01:56 AM When someone plays a “sweet, but somewhat dumb character”, you’re not usually convincing because of either the acting or the level of dumbness of the character that to a point becomes totally unbelievable. But if I had to pick, out of the five of them, I’ll have to go with Synclaire from Living Single.
RetroGuy2000 12-01-2020, 09:32 AM Phoebe was the funniest. Rose was a close second.

Jerry Van Dyke from Coach:

I'm pretty sure there were other male characters who fit this category that I'm just forgetting. Can't think of any more right now.
andress_jade 12-02-2020, 09:11 PM Those are all great examples! :D
Another stupid but lovable character would have to be Waldo Geraldo Faldo from Family Matters.
Also Leonard Kosnoski "Lenny" and Andrew Squiggman "Squiggy" from Laverne and Shirley.
Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World is another great example.

stevea 12-02-2020, 11:16 PM Iola Boylen (Beverly Archer), Mama's Family
(And speaking of Jerry Van Dyke, from above) Stacy Petrie, The Dick Van Dyke Show
Howard Borden (Bill Daily), The Bob Newhart Show
(And possibly) George Utley (Tom Poston), Newhart
Aunt Clara (Marion Lorne), Bewitched
Charley Knox 12-02-2020, 11:57 PM Iola Boylen (Beverly Archer),
She belongs more in a naive character category.
Bobbie Jo Bradley (Lori Saunders) Petticoat Junction
Men:
Jethro Bodine (Max Baer Jr.) The Beverly Hillbillies
Lowell Mathers (Thomas Haden Church) Wings
merlinjones 12-03-2020, 05:12 AM Goldie Hawn was the most awesome "dumb blonde" act of all time. Too bad she didn't have her own show as the Laugh-in character.
Grace Allen - first and best.
Marion Lorne as Aunt Clara - adorable.
Lori Saunders as Bobbie Jo - I wish she had moved on to Green Acres and dated Eb.
Jackie Joseph as Melody (voice) on Josie and the Pussycats.
Barbara Eden as Jeannie.
SledgeBarone 12-05-2020, 11:32 PM Woody and Coach on Cheers.

Yeah Beth Howland as Vera gets my vote. Dumb but very likable.
