Guess I should vote on my own poll, so yeah, i did it this year. The case was about a drunk driver swerving into the other lane, killing the driver of the other car. The name of the drunk person was Jordan Archer, and someone else in the case was Jesse Eagle. I dont remember much else about it. Oh yeah, and Kit Roswell! lol

Okay they give you this case. And you're either a judge, lawer, witness, bailiff, or jury member. There's a prosecution and defense side, like a regular trial. Then if you're a witness, you study your statement and practice with the lawyer who is directly examining you then you go to a courtroom and do the trial.

Bad explanation.

I did Mock Trial, but Ohio's mock trial is slightly different. You can only be a witness or an attorney, then there are three real judges who judge your case (no jury, really). The judges don't pick the winners of the case, they pick whoever got the most points, based on the how many times the witnesses were impeached, how many times people flubbed up, or if they performed flawlessly.

I already briefly described the case before in another topic, but I"ll do it in more depth here.

There was this high school kid named Vir Cotto, who was of the "Sluggonian religion" (Is this a real religion? I've never heard of it, so I'm slightly curious as to whether or not it's real or made up for the case). He was attacked by someone, beaten and spit upon. The only witness was an old lady who wasn't wearing her glasses, who said the attacker had brown hair and was wearing what looked to be a Malloryville High School jacket. The police took spit from the sidewalk with the hopes of performing a DNA test. The following day, an assembly was held at MHS, led by Principal Nell/Neil Authority. She told all the brown haired students to go to the cafeteria for testing. Alex Carlson was under the impression that the test was mandatory and therefore took it without question. Later, the results turned up that Alex was the likeliest suspect for the attack.

The case wasn't about the attacking, though. It was a motion to suppress the evidence from the DNA test, so that it wouldn't be used against Alex in court. For each side, three people were available to choose as witness, but you could only use two. For the prosecution, there was the principal, ), Jo Good (A brown-haired student who had been excuse from the testing), and Lynn Veritas (A Latin teacher who excused Jo Good). For the defense there was Alex Carlson, Maxine/Maxwell Galton (A basketball coach who hated Alex), and Kelly Wick (Basketball player who had asked to be excused but wasn't allowed).

I was a witness both times we presented the case. For the prosecution, I played Lynn Veritas. For the defense, I played Kelly Wick and even won best witness (Though my mock trial coach failed to recognize that when he listed all the awards our school won in the school newspaper. He listed everyone's awards BUT mine). Our team didn't do so well at competition, though, we camed out 7th out of 8 for the county (We weren't even in our county, actually. Two of our teams had been sent to Butler County, and the other two teams were sent to Mason County, because they didn't want one school having four teams in one competition). We didn't feel too bad, though, because we were all freshman, and both times we were up against seniors (When we were defense we were up against the state champions from last year). Plus, the sophomore team (the other team sent to Mason County) came out 8th out of 8, and didn't win any awards.
