RaisedByTV 11-19-2020, 11:10 PM My new quarantine hobby is rewatching my favorite shows from childhood. This was definitely one of them, but what a pleasure to rewatch this one from the start (I’m only on season 4 now). There’s a lot of mixed emotions as I watch: the cuteness of the child actors, the sadness of knowing what the actors went through in their lives, realizing that I was much too young and innocent to understand the social undertones of the show, but remembering the lessons from their “very special episodes”.
I’m glad that I found this site and look forward to reading these posts and posting along with you! Maybe I’ll see you in the Facts of Life, Too Close for Comfort and other boards for shows that I have begun rewatching.
Stay safe!

Welcome aboard. You are welcome to come to the Facts of Life board. It's fairly active. Of course, there would not have been the Facts of Life without Different Strokes.

Welcome to the boards. I found this site in 2002 and was hooked from the start. I watched Different Strokes today when Arnold went on a date with Diane and Dudley interrupted the date

I watched that episode recently too and it just made me laugh. I don’t think that I ever saw that episode or really many of the early episodes. I always thought that Dudley was just as adorable as Arnold.

This line by arnold had me :lol::lol:
Dudley: "What's the matter Arnold I thought we were friends"
Arnold: "we are but not at night"
LOL:lol:

Yes, welcome. I was curious to know if you have any favorite seasons? My favorites are Seasons 1-4.

I tend to like the earlier seasons when they were all younger. Seeing Dixie Carter doesn’t interest me.
TVFactFan 11-26-2020, 01:04 AM The seasons with Adelaide are my favorite

She was better than that horrible replacement Mary Ann Mobley. She and the boy who played Sam is what killed this show to me.
The seasons with Adelaide are my favorite
I liked Edna the best but yeah Adelaide was good I didn’t like Pearl it wasn’t entertaining at all to see her in my opinion.
MikeLutton 11-26-2020, 03:29 AM i liked Mis Garret the best as well she was funny
TVLegend 11-26-2020, 11:38 AM How I Rank The Maids On Diff’rent Storkes
1. Mrs. Garrett
2. Adelaide
3. Pearl (Who I Didn’t Like At All)

And she was on Maude
TVLegend 11-26-2020, 04:16 PM And she was on Maude
I remember that but speaking of Maude, remember when Bookman was on there I think he was flirting with Florida or something lol very interesting

Yup I saw Bookman on there too
TVLegend 11-26-2020, 04:25 PM Yup I saw Bookman on there too
Weird but interesting to see Bookman on Good Times’s parent show playing another character

Me too. I love Dudley and I loved Dudley and Arnold's friendship as well. :)
Fallon97 12-03-2020, 05:00 PM I actually liked Pearl, Ms. Garrett and Adelaide. They all were great.

Mine too.
She's a hoot!

I’m on season 5 now and I can say that I my favorite seasons are 1-4. I just enjoyed it more when the boys were young. I never realized how Willis becomes rather handsome really fast, but I realize that i’m watching them mature in weeks, rather than years. :happyface
TVFactFan 12-16-2020, 02:36 AM seasons 3 to 5 are the best.

Same for me. From best to worst I put:
1
3
4
2
5
6
8
7
Seasons 1-4 are the best. Season 5 is okay, not as good as the first four, the show started to lose energy but it was still okay. The last three were terrible and unwatchable. Arnold was no longer funny, Willis, Pearl and Kimberly disappeared, Gary Coleman was visible tired of the show at that point, Mr. Drummond was no longer the great father we saw up to that point and Maggie and Sam were the final nail in the coffin. No offense to Danny Cooksey, but his character was a failed attempt to replace Arnold, it killed the ratings. I prefer season 8 over 7, simply because several episodes featured Arnold and Willis as a brotherly duo. Season 7 is so Sam-centric

Pearl disappeared? I dont remember that
TV Guy 12-19-2020, 02:33 PM Pearl only appeared in about 5 of the episodes during the last season. She wasn’t written out; she just wasn’t on camera. Willis and Maggie only appeared on a limited basis during that season, too. Budget cuts.

Well she should have gotten a new job anyway once Mr. Drummond got married lol
FOL-FAN-ITA 12-19-2020, 04:21 PM Pearl disappeared? I dont remember that
As TV Guy said before me, Mary Jo Catlett was still a main cast member but she is absent for most of the season.

She was almost fired by Maggie. She told Pearl to give her bedroom to Willis. The episode after the wedding, the one where Arnold wanted to go to a party
