Found this on IMDB.

Bobby Brown : [CUTTING-ROOM FLOOR-LINE: After Sam has left with Drummond, Don's wife and son give him shattered looks] ... I don't know who you are anymore - but you're not the man who raised my brother and me!

[In tears, he spins on his heel, runs, and slams out of the room]

May Brown : [CUTTING-ROOM FLOOR-LINE, also in tears] ... Oh, Donald - Donald, what would Tommy say...?

[sobbing uncontrollably]

May Brown: WHAT WOULD TOMMY SAY!

[Don hangs his head, unable to answer]

Is this a real cut scene or a fan-fic. I always wondered what happened to the wife and son. I believe they were as much a victim in the kidnapping as much as sam was.

Don't know if its real but it sure brings some closure as I always wanted to know how May and Bobby reacted.

Sam was really something to be concerned about the family after what happened to him.

Perhaps he could have convinced Mr. Drumond to employ her in his company. After all, she was very sweet to him and had no idea of the true story.

This one was on today, and it was like something out of Little House on the Prairie. Children do get kidnapped, but it’s generally not to replace dead children. Of course, a family friendly show like DS wouldn’t get into the more nefarious reasons for kidnapping.

The wife bore some responsibility. The husband brings home some kid and she doesn’t question the legality of it? Even when he doesn’t want the child to go to school?

This was a bad choice for Mary Ann Mobley’s first episode. She was a limited actress to begin with, and her poor acting was on full display here.

I wonder if Maggie II and Kate Stratton shared the same decorator, since the “Silver Spoons” house got an overhaul in the fall of 1985. As did the Facts of Life house. And all three got updated themes.

I know that it was meant to be a serious moment, but I can't help but laugh at the way she says "Please...find my son!"

Honestly, I don't remember this scene. I always skip the last two seasons during rewatching. Sam's Missing was a strange episode, Mary Ann Mobley was terrible on DS. Both Carter and Mobley had zero chemistry with Conrad Bain. They should have never added Maggie and Sam, DS was Mr. Drummond, the three kids and the housekeeper.

The show was running out of gas, so I guess I understand why they added the wife. But it detracted from the show’s appeal. At least Dixie Carter had some chemistry with the rest of the cast. Mary Ann Mobley seemed like she was from another planet. Did anyone believe she was married to the country singer guy who played Sam’s father? I don’t get why they cast her at all, with all the actresses who must have been available. I can only guess they liked her from when she guest starred earlier, and that they were in a rush.

The last season is bizarre anyway - with so many cast members missing from so many episodes.

I agree about Mobley. Not that she was a bad actress, but she really didn't belong in that role. And yes, she's going to be frantic, but any scene she's in sounds like a 50s soap opera--all that's missing is the organ playing. Her emoting is over the top.

I never saw that scene--I think I have those episodes from Starz Black which ran them uncut (supposedly)--the episode should run a little short if that was cut, and I'm too lazy to check!. Plus Imdb is SO inaccurate.

The whole premise of those episodes is flawed. Yes, this is the sitcom world, but there's so many things here that just wouldn't happen. A bad beginning to a season that shouldn't have happened--the only thing I like is the updated opener.

The show should have ended in 1984
