I know that when I think of Carroll O'Connor I think of Archie Bunker. He made/makes me laugh until I cry. He was an incredible actor, and from I can tell an incredible man. He will forever live on TV.

What is everyone's fondest Carroll O'Connor/Archie Bunker memory?

...The one I remember above EVERYTHING else is where Archie explains to Mike how to put his socks and shoes on. I laughed until I cried, and still do!
...Second would have to be when Archie defined "Meathead."

There are so many, but those are the two I just automatically think of when I think about Carroll and AITF.

There were so many wonderful Carroll/Archie moments it would be difficult to list them all..but here are a just a few of my favorites..

Archie on religion..there were many of these great moments, but one of my favorite lines is where Archie said, Able killed his brother with a cane.

When Edith was going through the menopause and Archie gives her 30 seconds to go through the change.

When Archie and meathead are locked in the storage room and Archie tells Mike the famous shoebootie story. That one brought tears to my eyes, and gave us a deeper understanding of why Archie was the way he was.

When Archie gets drunk while locked in the cellar and a black man comes to help Archie, and Archie thinks the black man is God.

The look on Archie's face when he discovers the "woman" whose life he saved is really a man.

These are just a few of the most memorable moments..the show was so wonderful that nearly every episode had one..ahhh..those were the days!

Carroll O'Connor's brilliant portrayal of Archie will live on, as generations to come
will discover the humor and pathos he brought
to All In The Family. Some of My favorite
moments: Archie and Maude feuding over FDR.
From the pilot - Archie trying to convince
Lionel he is not Jewish. The funniest was during Joey's birth, Archie had just come from his lodge's minstrel show in blackface and was trying to Gloria's hospital room. of course he manages to make a fool of himself
frightening an elderly woman. His talents will be sorely missed.

I'd have to say that the two most memorable episodes were the one where Gloria is nearly raped and the one where the guy tried raping Edith.

God they're so many memories involving Carroll O' Connor as Archie Bunker. Here are some of mine-

The episode where Archie got locked in the cellar. I swear I was lmao during the whole episode!

The looks on his face sometimes could just crack me up.

The California episode- I thought this was a sad episode because Gloria and Mike were separating, but one line just made me laugh about 10 minutes after hearing it. The line was when Archie was asking Mike how he had hurt his back and Mike says something (I can't remember what Mike said) and Archie says "You dope- You tried to lift a motorcycle?"

Everytime he called Mike a meathead- especially when he first explained what a meathead was-

Oh one more and I'll stop. I think it has already been mentioned, but I love the episode where Edith is going through the change. That episode had me lmao too.

I loved this show and I must say even though Carroll is gone- Archie Bunker will always live forever.

I had to list one more. This one has already been posted also, but the episode where Archie and Mike are locked in the storageroom. Archie explains how when he was young, the kids would tease him by calling him shoebooty. That episode had me crying.

Carroll had that affect on you to make you laugh till you cried or just cry because his performance really got to you.

I thought of one more. The episode where Gloria and Mike leave for California. Mike says to Archie "You probably think I didn't like you, but I love you" or something like that and when Archie gets back in the house and he starts to cry because he misses Gloria and Mike. I was already in tears by then, but it just made me cry even harder seeing Archie cry.

I thought that Arcie was the kind of person that many people would hate, but others would love. The way he played his character on the show was in a different kind of manner, as he played a charactre that possibly nobody else could play.

He interaction with the other cast memembers was very memorable, and constroversal, as him and Mike would always fight over the same things: polictics and discrmination.

One more thing is that Archie wasn't the best character of the show, because many people prefer Edith over him, mainly because he was such a bigot. Edith brought Archie to his feet, and made him a classic TV rolemodel.
