Not only did she want to stay in the ghetto and refused to better herself and her family she stopped James from fighting Mad Dog, the punk who shot her OWN son, she stopped and guilted James from going to Alaska and working on the pipeline, and allowed Thelma to get engaged to Larry, against James’s wishes and without his approval. Why would you even want your sixteen or seventeen year old daughter to tie down and get engaged and married to some random boyfriend, whom she probably hasn’t dated for a WEEK when she has her whole life ahead of her? Florida wasn’t a good parent.

Wilona was much dumber when she lied to Penny about her pregnant friend and said that the friend had "stomach mumps."

Wilona and Florida switched characters in that episode. That episode is not one of my favorites anyway. Florida and Wilona both had their dumb moments but the stuff that Florida pulled and did didn’t make her a good parent at all. In some episodes I suggest something’s wrong with Florida.

I think I can understand why florida didnt want him to leave. It was because he would have left her and the kids in a high crime area so she didnt want to be in that situation. Larry didnt appear to be a throwback and seemed like a mature responsible dude. Now if she had got engaged to a guy like Mad Dog then would have looked weird lol

I say James should’ve brought Florida and the kids with her but still Florida’s dumbass passed up the chance to better herself and her family she made up any old excuse or pulled any stunt to STAY in the ghetto now with Larry Florida went against James’s wishes and let Thelma get engaged to Larry against James’s wishes not only was James Thelma’s father he was the man of the house and the provider although he hardly provided anything lol yeah Larry was a nice young man I like him better than that jerk Keith but didn’t have a good or a steady job he worked at the garage lol how was he gonna make Thelma happy

And remember she cried to James “I don’t wanna live good I wanna live with you” and ran to her room like she was a damn child. J.J. would do something more mature and less silly. She literally confirmed that she didn’t wanna live good at all she wanted to live with James instead. James’s fault is that he decided not to bring the family with him when he thought he was going to Alaska. But James had a chance to provide for the family and better the family and Florida blew it, not thinking and being ridiculous and wanting to continue living in poverty. Florida.

If James had a better job, couldn’t he have sent money home so his family could move to a nicer place?

Yeah but she would have preferred to go with him instead of them living in the ghetto without a father
