View Full Version : What episode in Season 5 has Cindy and Chrissy on the Phone?
TVFactFan 11-13-2020, 09:56 PM LOL I know its no episode with them talking im just poking fun at the writers for not having Chrissy not make reference to Cindy at all when Cindy mentioned Chrissy when she arrived
Which is why it was dumb for them to have a relative move in instead of another girl. Its kind of weird to have Chrissy call and not say......"tell cindy I said Hi" lol Especially when Cindy talked to her right before she arrived and was telling Jack and Janet everything Chrissy said.
RetroGuy2000 11-14-2020, 02:08 AM That's a really good point! I wonder why they didn't include that dialogue.

especially since they were cousins:lol:
TV Guy 11-14-2020, 09:02 AM Some producers believe that a replacement character will be more accepted by the audience if they’re related to or have some off-screen connection to the departed character. That’s why we got Jill sister Kris on “Charlie’s Angels,” Charlene’s sister Carlene on “Designing Women” (not to mention Suzanne’s cousin Allison), Julie’s sister Judy on “Love Boat,” Bub’s brother Charley on “My Three Sons,” Bill’s friend Max on “Newsradio,” Coach’s penpal Woody on “Cheers,” etc.

They never explained why they got rid of Cindy in the TC book or True Hollywood Story

Cindy was never as big as Chrissy and maybe Terri it was like she was a temporary replacement for Chrissy like with Alice you hear everyone talk about either Flo or Jolene but you never hear anyone talk about or mention Belle I don’t know why people like Terri in my opinion she was just an annoying, bland, boring, blonde copycat of Janet

They probably didnt want to go the dumb blonde route again after chrissy and cindy

Yeah but they could’ve made Terri interesting and not a boring, bland, blonde copycat of Janet with no personality whatsoever whenever I watch Three’s Company I always try to avoid Season 6-8 when I watch Three’s Company on LOGO 8/10 they’re playing episodes from Seasons 6-8 and I never found Cindy dumb I just found her extremely clumsy

They probably wanted her to be low key and not outshine Janet and Jack to avoid being in the same situation they were in with Suzanne
TV Guy 11-15-2020, 08:54 AM Cindy was never meant to be a permanent replacement for Chrissy. She was just there to “clean up” the scripts that were already written for Chrissy. The producers didn’t want a Chrissy clone as the permanent replacement. The trouble was that they didn’t know how to craft a new character that was different from both Janet and Chrissy.
They clearly liked Jenilee Harrison to keep her on as a supporting character in the first Terri season. But her character simply wasn’t necessary after Terri came in. The show was always produced on a pretty tight budget, so why spend money on an actor/character that’s not necessary?

It did seem like they were trying to make her permanent when they had so many episodes that revolved around her

I agree with you . They did the dumb blonde route twice, so they decided to make Terri the "straight guy" of the trio. I didn't think Terri was boring at all. She definitely had her moments.

Terri was a great, refreshing change from Suzanne's dumb blonde act which was getting old and STALE!
If you haven't seen seasons 6 to 8 you are missing the BEST episodes of the series like Up in the Air, Urban Plowboy, Two flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Diamond Jack, etc.

Season 4 and 7 has the best episodes. Going to Pot is another season 7 that is good that was never aired by N@N:lol:

Thanks! Been a looong time since I've seen a "Chrissy minute" tag scene on an episode! (Maybe even since the show's original airings).

I havent seen the DVD's in so long and Chrissy actually talks about Cindy twice
At the end of the episode when Jack and Janet thought Cindy was pregnant
At the end of the episode when Winston wanted to Marry Cindy

season 6 had a few dark eps unlike season 4 and 7 which all seem to be upbeat and fun

Three’s Company was in it’s prime from Seasons 2-4

The producers and cast members stated in Chris Mann’s “Come and Knock On Our Door” book that because Suzanne started her negotiations after production had started for the season, they were forced to bring in Cindy to “clean up” the scripts that were already written for Chrissy. That’s why she was prominent. But they also said she was considered a temp, and that once they started writing the season 6 episodes, they’d come up with a new, permanent character.

Ok that makes sense, they were all ready written which is why she seemed like the new star while being so new

Cindy did a GREAT job replacing crybaby Chrissy!
So it was supposed to be Chrissy's aunt's farm they visited but they changed it to Cindy's aunt's farm! Also, instead of Cindy going missing it was supposed to be Chrissy.
Cindy didn't miss a beat in her episodes but I'm glad they brought in Terri because she was even better.
