I was listening to Elton John's greatest hits album Diamonds and found the song Mama Can't Buy You Love and it tells me that when Elton John worked with Thom Bell that he wanted to cross over to soul and R&B music for a bigger audience. I know that Thom Bell and Linda Creed are best known for their work with The Spinners and The Stylistics so I was surprised that Elton John could've been huge in soul music as well
