View Full Version : Two characters you would like to have seen interact together?
80s Dude 11-06-2020, 11:16 PM What two characters that were on the show, but never were in the same episode would you like to see interact together?
I would like to see Jo and Mr. Bradley interact together.

I've always thought that Andy's bully in A Rose By Any Other Age was The Gooch :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Great combination FOL FAN ITA!!!! (it would have definitely been funny to see those 2 interact lol!)
Can i just say: everyone's ideas were fantastic!!!
PS: what about KIMBERLY and JO? (maybe those 2 could have been a foil to BLAIR and BOOTSIE?)
:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:

Ahahaha! That would have been hilarious! Of course, it might raise some questions: Why did The Gooch transfer school districts from NYC to Peekskill, for example?

They did meet in another universe where Dana Plato and Nancy M. starred together in a movie, but it would have been interesting if they met as Kimberly and Jo.
80s Dude 11-08-2020, 06:35 PM Those these two were in the same episode together, they didn't say a single word to one another. Molly and Jo. Could you imagine if Jo was around during Molly's social political rantings. Jo probably would tell Molly, "Would you put a sock in it?"

And then Molly would respond, "Put a sock in it? No one's gonna silence me! I'm a woman!"

Or in the Teenage marriage, Molly would tell Jo "Why are you willing to destroy your life marrying some stupid Navy guy at your age?'

Jo definitely needed Molly's advice in that episode. It definitely would have saved Blair and Mrs. Garrett some time shivering in the cold in front of seedy motels.
TV Guy 11-08-2020, 09:25 PM Kelly, Miko, and Pimppa. They had some things in common.
RetroGuy2000 11-08-2020, 11:49 PM Kelly, Miko, and Pimppa. They had some things in common.
Kelly and Pimppa sure did!
...You know, I often wonder if they took all of the random side characters, and all the episodes they were in, would they have added up to one more "girl"? In other words, would Kelly, Pippa, Andy, George, etc., have been needed if there had been a "fifth girl"? Did all the episodes they were in add up to there being a fifth, often replaced, character?
FOL-FAN-ITA 11-09-2020, 09:36 AM Ahahaha! That would have been hilarious! Of course, it might raise some questions: Why did The Gooch transfer school districts from NYC to Peekskill, for example?
Maybe his reputation in NYC was so bad that he went to Peekskill :lol::lol:

Jo probably would do the same thing that Sue Ann did to Molly's advice in "Dieting". Ignore it.
RetroGuy2000 11-09-2020, 12:50 PM Jo probably would do the same thing that Sue Ann did to Molly's advice in "Dieting". Ignore it.
You are likely right. Jo was incredibly stubborn.

You know, that's fitting you wonder that, because originally there were 5 Eastland girls in the main cast in pre-production:
Nancy
Blair
Sue Ann
Molly
Tootie

That's a good point. It feels like the series was always meant to have five characters plus Mrs. Garrett, so when they reduced the cast to Mrs. Garrett and just four girls, it was almost like they kept looking for a "fifth girl".
The type of constant cast turnover on this show rarely happened at this level on other series. Imagine if, for example, we kept seeing a random cousin appear on Home Improvement, replaced the following year by a homeless neighbor kid, himself replaced by a foreign exchange student, replaced by... someone else.
They kept adding in replacement characters, but most of these characters never lasted long, so they'd come in for one season, do their thing, and then be gone. But would all of these appearances add up to another "girl"?

They eventually gave up on finding a fifth girl, that they decided to get a boy (played by an actor with a girl's name).

"A girl's name"? I think McKenzie is a boy's name. You have McKenzie Astin on FOL and McKenzie Cory, the millionaire pubishing magnate patriarch on NBC's defunct long-running soap opera "Another World" (he went by "Mac" for short).
The only female McKenzie I can think of is McKenzie Phillips.
RetroGuy2000 11-09-2020, 04:37 PM Mackenzie can be male or female. My understanding is that, on the set, they called him Mack or Mac. Which makes me think of a Big Mac. And now I'm hungry... thanks, Patty Duke!

All the McKenzies I know in real life are female. It's been a fairly common name for girls in the 1990s and 2000s.
'80sSitcoms 11-10-2020, 12:06 PM When I hear of a girl or woman named Madison I always think back to what Tom Hanks' character adamantly protested in 1984's "Splash" when he asks the mermaid what she wants her name to be, and she looks up at a street sign for "Madison Avenue" (maybe Avenue) and she says "Madison".
"Madison?! That's not a name!!"
And now there are tons of Madison girls everywhere---strange how that works out! lol

Cindy and Mr. Parker.
Because that would mean Cindy had a BIG story. :) (in my mind)

It's funny how presidential last names later became so popular as girls' first names. You mentioned Madison, and I agree, but what about Kennedy, Taylor, and Reagan?
