As we all know by now, Barbara Eden, while starring in I Dream of Jeannie, was not allowed to expose her navel on that sitcom. The pants of her costume had to be set above navel level, but once that became ineffective, the producers of IDoJ decided to use fabric and skin-coloured makeup to conceal Ms. Eden's navel. Ms. Eden did get to expose her navel in the two IDoJ reunion movies.

If navel piercing had existed before 1993, would it have been better if Barbara Eden had her navel pierced solely to get around the network censors?

It would have been nice if she could have worn a belly-gem. That'd be very djinni-like.

But censors are the most uptight people on the planet. If they could have made her wear a full-body beledi dress, they would have.
