Considerating what a lot of us went through this bad year, I hope so. I hope it’s The Pilot, Redecorating, Lucy & The Dummy or Country Club Dance.

View Full Version : Will we get a colorized I Love Lucy episode this XMas? Frank Gannucci 10-28-2020, 05:52 PM Considerating what a lot of us went through this bad year, I hope so. I hope it’s The Pilot, Redecorating, Lucy & The Dummy or Country Club Dance. Willbo 11-12-2020, 09:47 AM I would like to see "Lucy Does The Tango" from the last season colorized. Such a classic episode and it is in Connecticut. RWCTV 11-24-2020, 03:29 AM I would like to see "Lucy Does The Tango" from the last season colorized. Such a classic episode and it is in Connecticut. That's my hope too. I would love to see that nice spacious farmhouse set in color, not to mention the part where the eggs stashed in her shirt all get smashed. Since it is one of the highest ranking episodes ever for that series (It also received the longest laugh ever recorded), it should have a higher priority than others, but who knows? I was kind of surprised when they prioritized colorizing "Paris at Last" above many of the other episodes that are more memorable than that one. I mean, it was a good episode, but it's not one that people ever cite in their list of "best episodes". BigManMike 11-25-2020, 07:19 PM I was wondering the same thing myself. Seems odd there’s been no announcement about it. Frank Gannucci 11-25-2020, 09:28 PM I’m beginning to wonder if they will show a newly colorized one this year. If they don’t, I can assume it’s because the pandemic. The pandemic may have forced them to not work on it (unless they are able to do a real professional job doing it at home.) MichaelKeith 12-04-2020, 06:52 PM Has anyone heard an announcement from CBS about this year’s showing? Didn’t I hear that CBS did not run the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin show this year? TV Guy 12-04-2020, 07:09 PM Doesn’t look like it. If you google CBS holiday schedule, you’ll see that a lot of local affiliates have published the CBS specials for November and December. No Lucy (or Dick Van Dyke Show either). CBS didn’t show Charlie Brown this year because Apple TV got the rights. But in the case of Lucy, they own the show. My guess is that it’s pandemic related, or they just decided to rest it this year. But I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Lucy on CBS. MichaelKeith 12-04-2020, 08:12 PM Thanks for the update, TV guy. I think you’re right. CBS will always have a special relationship with Lucy! Frank Gannucci 12-04-2020, 08:52 PM I’m thinking that it is also pandemic related. BTW, CBS hasn’t televised Peanuts specials in 20 years. ABC was the last major broadcast network to air them until Apple TV and later PBS snatched them up. Bummer that CBS won’t air a colorized special. I hope that this doesn’t start a trend. I soooo want to see some episodes colorized like Country Club Dance. BARBARA Eden stars in this one and they should do it while she is still with us at 89 years old. OH Nuts! 12-05-2020, 01:01 PM Even though my preference is for B & W, I hope all of you get Colorized versions I’m sure there’s a big market for this, so why this hasn’t happened yet is a mystery to me. icecream 12-05-2020, 01:13 PM Doesn’t look like it. CBS didn’t show Charlie Brown this year because Apple TV got the rights.CBS hasn't aired Charlie Brown in ages... ABC is the network where its long run ended when Apple got the rights this year. icecream 12-05-2020, 01:19 PM The Christmas episode went from a lost one I wanted to see, to getting tired of it every year when there are so many episodes to choose from. Fridays where the Lucy hour often aired have new episodes of their dramas thru December 18 because of their late start this year. But it would be nice if CBS aired an I Love Lucy marathon for the entire primetime block on the night of Christmas. It doesn't need colorized either! Anyone with a brain knows I Love Lucy is long gone from being a current show. But they could still enjoy it on broadcast TV. Hallmark's monopoly on the TV airings needs to end since they long ago relegated it to an early morning show. I Love Lucy needs a TV network (besides streaming, I mean actual airing on a TV station) that will air it in afternoons and evenings. Charley Knox 12-05-2020, 01:21 PM CBS hasn't aired Charlie Brown in ages... ABC is the network where its long run ended when Apple got the rights this year. PBS has it this year. You can watch it next Sunday (DEC 13) commercial free at 7:30pm. MichaelKeith 12-05-2020, 10:01 PM PBS has it this year. You can watch it next Sunday (DEC 13) commercial free at 7:30pm. Wow, thanks. I didn’t know that. I’ll plan to watch it. icecream 12-06-2020, 05:57 PM What Hallmark monopoly? There is not a single sitcom airing on Hallmark Channel that is exclusive to them. Any other cable network could acquire shared rights much like TV Land currently has with The Golden Girls and WGN America had a few years ago with Cheers and Lifetime had a few years ago with Frasier. (And possibly UPtv has with Reba, when Reba debuts on Hallmark Channel in January.) And although not a cable network, I Love Lucy does air back to back episodes every weekday afternoon on Decades in addition to an early morning airing on MeTV.But it is exclusive to Hallmark on cable, no other cable station has aired I Love Lucy in a very long time. And Decades/MeTV don't do me any good, they are not available for me. Reba is not exclusive on UP, CMT also airs it. |
