I thought this was going to be a thread about the FOL producers bringing on a robot to play Molly after the real life one refused to appear in any more episodes.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Nah, the robot didn't appear until Season 5. They called it L-C instead of Moll-E, but it was just as possessive of the croissants as Molly had been of the cinnamon buns.

Unfortunately, L-C didn't make it to Season 6. NBC executive Warren Littlefield claimed that there were "ten, twelve" computers on the show; the producers also felt like L-C's line delivery was too robotic, and Nancy McKeon resented having to share her lines with what she called "a bucket of bolts". L-C's role on The Facts of Life thus ended.

The producers offered to bring L-C back on a semi-recurring basis, but they only offered L-C one episode in Season 6, which L-C claimed was a "calculated move" to reduce its role. Soon thereafter, L-C had landed a role in the film War Games. Now a big Hollywood star, L-C then refused to appear in the Season 8 reunion episode, "The Laser Computer", and so only the computers from "Love at First Byte" and "Dear Apple", along with Edna's blender, appeared in the reunion episode, where Blair, Jo, Natalie, and Tootie reunite with their old mechanical friends.

They could have brought in the Small Wonder kid to play Robot Molly.
