Unlike the Classic 39 episodes. Wonder is it just like that on Me-tv and better on the DVD? Just looks like I am watching TV with an Antenna when it comes on:lol:

They were originally done live and only preserved on low-resolution kinescope, so that’s about as good as it gets. There is a process that allows kinescope to be be digitally recreated to look how they were when they were live. But it’s pretty expensive.

Here’s a link to an old live production of 12 Angry Men that was only preserved on kinescope, like the lost episodes, but was restored to a “live” look as if it were videotaped like later live broadcasts were.

If you are talking about the 1951-1952 sketches, those were only recorded on kinescope, back in the DuMont Network era. We're lucky we have them at all, even in poor quality, since they were aired live, before videotape was even invented.

The first time I saw Pert Kelton (the original Alice) was during Outta Sight Retro Night on WGN many years ago. It took a while for me to get used to the original Alice.

Yeah, a lady named Pert Kelton was originally in the role, in the DuMont episodes, before she was blacklisted and replaced by Audrey Meadows on the CBS episodes.

There are some that are still missing like “The Driving Lesson.” Also, the Pert Skeleton sketches were never on WGN America in the late 2000s. They did however make their way onto Decades in 2019. I’m interested to see how Decades air them because I don’t have Decades. Do they alter the opening of the show to not include Audrey Meadows’ name? What else do they edit?

From what I've seen of Pert on another show, getting Audrey was a great idea.

Audrey made that role her own, for sure!

I agree. Audrey was miles better than Pert. Pert looked ugly compared to Audrey but the only thing Perts Alice had over Audrey’s was that she looked like she can take Ralph’s threats better. I loved it during one episode, she said: “You want me to yell. I’LL YELLLLLLLLLLL!”
