A new documentary reveals a bizarre anecdote in which actor Freddie Prinze allegedly tried to kill John Travolta with a crossbow.

The story involves 3 sitcoms, I guess (Good Times, Welcome Back Kotter, Chico and the Man) so instead of 3 separate posts I just put it here.
By the way, I’m watching the documentary Jimmy tells the story in, about The Comedy Store club in California. Pretty good.

king of comedy 10-16-2020, 07:30 AM Wow! This is new to me. Shocking!
JustaViewer 10-16-2020, 03:54 PM Very hard to believe.
I have little respect for Walker.
IllinoisTVFan 10-16-2020, 05:14 PM Jimmie Walker is losing it, maybe he has dementia. Prinze is dead and Travolta still has a career so not sure what his deal is. A few months ago before Covid Walker was playing at a small comedy club not far from me, that's how hard he fell.
king of comedy 10-16-2020, 05:26 PM I saw Walker in New Jersey at Chiller Fest and he looked awful. Sad.
Here’s a look at the police report filed about the incident

And Freddie Prinze's name is where...?

Travolta didn't know who did it, it's in the article the OP posted.
“I’m sure to this day John Travolta was thinking, I wonder what happened in L.A. with those shots fired through my door. What was that about?” Walker added.
DJM77 10-18-2020, 12:12 PM If Jimmie Walker was so against this then why would he go with Freddie to John Travolta's apartment?
Given the many stories of Freddie Prinze's serious drug problem and crazy behavior that I've heard and read, I'm inclined to believe that Jimmie's story is probably true.

To intervene in case he really tried to go through with it. I haven't seen the doc but from the article I'm getting the sense that this was a very spur of the moment thing, where one moment he might've rambled about killing Travolta and the next hopping into a car to go to his house.

Yes. I remembered reading somewhere that he was unstable and would fool around with guns in the weeks before he killed himself. According to FindaDeath.com, his wife had successfully filed a restraining order filed against him.
And why would anyone need to bring up Freddie Prinze Sr.'s name to create a story? We all know and love him but he's also become a bit obscure these days. Why not Robin Williams, if he wanted to make something up?

I don't understand the skepticism. JJ Walker came out of the blue claiming that Freddie Prinze tried to kill Travolta with a crossbow. No one until Walker's revelation this year ever referred to an incident with Travolta involving arrows. Not even Travolta has ever mentioned it. What that means is that this entire event was never, ever made public at the time and was only known to the LAPD, Travolta himself and the culprit who did it.
If JJ Walker is lying, how is there a police report about the incident filed from October 1976 that only came to light this year and just happens to match his story? It's not like Walker heard of this incident through the rumor mill and saw the police report years ago and then made everything up afterward. It was clearly tracked by investigators after he talked about it.
BTW, I'm assuming that it was stuff like this that set Prinze off:

I haven't seen the doc
Just so I don’t mislead anyone, the documentary is a 5 hour history of The Comedy Store. The story here takes up 2 or 3 minutes airtime at most.

Okay, that makes sense.
