Seriously? Heck, I can think of it twice on just One Day At A Time alone. Julie left in the hospital with appendicitis, Ann recovering from a heart attack (different eps of course).

Blair is Blair. She heals fast. How else do you explain the way she looks at 57. That other 57 year old looks that young?

Blair had TV plastic surgery, and TV plastic surgery rarely leaves scars. Look at Steven Carrington on Dynasty, for example.

I don't think LISA had plastic surgery: maybe dental perfection? (like celebrities do to make their perfect teeth look shiny white)

TV Guy means Blair had plastic surgery to remove her scar.

Oh yes they were!

But I meant the references to Monica having plastic surgery, which were mentioned several times in the series, for example in "A Friend in Deed", when it's indicated Monica makes "adjustments". (As it turns out, the latest plastic surgery appointment is a cover story for her breast cancer, but that doesn't mean Monica hasn't gone under the knife for beauty before; indeed, Blair seems to think it's routine).

I don't think that MONICA had any surgeries done: those were the 80 s, not the 2000 s lol! (only celebrities went under the knife then, unlike nowadays, where it's 'like going to the Mac Donalds' as TOOTIE pointed out in the episode).....

I thought about this too. It was very silly. It seems like this episode was just ratings bait. It would have made more sense to make this storyline an arc over season 9, but to compress it into a half hour made absolutely no sense. The fact that there was no explanation or even recovery after this episode, was shocking. We just had to assume that Blair got plastic surgery to correct her scar. This is just another why season 9 was so bad and it was time for the show to end. If this had taken place earlier in the series, as a "very special episode" it would have definitely gotten a two-parter, but since the show got less serious, it was truncated to one episode.

Right. In earlier seasons, when we saw life-changing occurrences, such as the death of Natalie's dad, we see the characters adjust over time: Natalie doesn't lose her dad and then recover by the end of the episode, so that by the next episode, she's chipper again. Instead, she has a story arc that happens over part of the season, mourning the loss of her dad. I think she even brings it up several seasons later.

I have a different perspective. Here in the US, plastic surgeries became increasingly common in the 1980s among the rich, and even wealthy housewives were getting it done: liposuction became popular, facelifts happened, and also tummy tucks and breast augmentation. (The morality of these procedures being done almost exclusively on women, and the underlying reasons for that, is an altogether more complicated topic).

Right atleast make it a two-parter.
