The Commuter (2018) on FXM

A retired NYPD officer who is now an insurance agent is unexpectedly laid off from his job and heads home on the Metro North; the same route he has taken to and from work for years.

He is approached by a stranger on the train who tells him that $25,000 cash has been stashed in the train's bathroom and he will be paid a further $75,000 when his job is done. His job is to identify a passenger onboard who has stolen something.

By taking the money he then gets involved in a wide-ranging conspiracy.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga appear from The Conjuring franchise.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) on DVD

I recently read (again) Dracula and I have to say that Gary Oldman's portrayal of the Count is the closest to the novel. He's described as an old man with white hair and white mustache. His fingers are long as he uses them as talons as he scales across the castle walls. He also has hairy palms.

The main difference with Coppola's version is that the Count had a romantic interest with Mina Harker as she reminded him of his wife; similar to The Mummy.

Remember (2015) on Showtime-on-Demand

Two elderly Auschwitz survivors in a nursing home make a pact to track down the fugitive SS officer responsible for their families' murder. One of the survivors is suffering from dementia so his friend, who is on an oxygen tank and can't travel, writes down letters and notes for his friend to follow on their mission.

The old man escapes from the nursing home and goes cross-country in order to find the Nazi fugitive who is now under an assumed name. Since he has dementia he constantly forgets where he is and what he is supposed to do.

This film was very well done and there is an interesting twist to it.

Watched this with my daughter last night.

Shadow In The Cloud '20  (On a stormy night during World War II, a female pilot with top secret cargo talks her way on board a bomber plane about to take-off. The crass all-male crew reluctantly agrees, but their suspicions about her identity and the mysterious cargo quickly grow. Just then a shadow appears in the clouds - was it the incoming Japanese fleet? Or caused by some other sinister stowaway?)

Mulan (2020) on Disney+

Disney's live-action adaptation of the 1998 animated film. I can see how this didn't appeal to children as it was a serious war epic and they cut out Mushu the talking dragon.

The film does feature some subtle references to the animated film. Ming-Na Wen, who voiced Mulan in the animated film, cameos as a palace aide introducing Mulan to the Emperor.
