Who do you think are the worst TV moms ever? They might not be for obvious reasons like a Peg Bundy. They may just be annoying or seem boring. They actually make you appreciate the Moms you were born from...

My Picks are:

Carol Brady
Roseanne
Debra Barrone

Worst?

Peg Bundy.

She was the poster girl for "Parental Neglect."

Laura Petrie, what did she ever do for her child? Maybe just send him to his bed?

THE WORST TV MOTHER OF ALL: MAUDE!!!
Those damn yelling trantrums she had must have caused her daughter to have a nervous reck!

The Worse in my mind is mama from Mama's Family.

Carol Brady- She had a maid, and she didn't even work herself

Peg Bundy- Have you seen the show? She constantly neglects her children.

Sometimes she actually stirred something in the kitchen.

But most of all, she dated her "stepson" Greg :}

This is gonna hurt some of y'all, but...

Lucy Ricardo. She was too busy trying to get into showbiz that she had no time to pay attention to Little Ricky. In CA he spent more time with her mother. Same with all the other trips they took. Particularly odd during the "perfect parent" 50s.

Yeah...
It seems like the Ricardos spent a lot of time on trips around the globe.
They spent like a year hanging out in Hollywood, didn't they?

Poor Little Ricky, stuck in New York with his Grandma....

I've noticed the same thing. Whenever Lucy and the gang went on trips and Little Ricky was never with them, it made you wonder. I've commented on the same thing a few times myself.

Laura Petrie- I wouldn't classify her as a bad mother, its just the son was a bit on the annoying side. That boy was so spoiled. Just wondering, where is the actor at now? I'm sorry I don't know his name, all I remember is how he screamed every single line. Anybody else notice that before?

The kid who played Ritchie Petrie, Rob and Laura's son, was Larry Matthews. I don't have any idea of what he's done since The Dick Van Dyke Show, but now that I think about it, he did shout out every line. He's not one of the most talented kid actors I've ever seen.

But Laura Petrie was not a bad mother. Just watch the pilot episode, where she worries constantly about Ritchie being sick, and it's really obvious.

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't remember his name to save my life. Actually, I just did a little research at imdb.com and it seems he was only in 'The Dick Van Dyke Show', nothing else before and nothing after. He was only on TDVDS.

1. Roseanne
2. Peg Bundy
3. Lucy Ricardo

I don't understand how anyone could say that Carol Brady was the worst TV mom. Carol was always involved with her children's activities. Perhaps, you haven't seen any of these episodes:

Every Boy Does it Once
The Grass is Always Greener
The Voice of Christmas
A Fistful of Reasons
Double Parked
Tell it Like it Is
Juliet is the Sun
Click
The Fender Benders
The Show Must Go On??

...to name a few.

She is probably the best TV mom, right up there with June Cleaver and Florida Evans.

it is a sin that you chose those 3 as the worse tv moms ever.

Right on, Boechsner! You have a wonderful argument in favor of Carol Brady!

The thing about Carol Brady is that I believe she was a good mom, sure, she never really did anything as far as house work conserns but she was involved with her kids and I think that is important also. Iv heard Roseanne mentioned a few times, I'm a huge fan of the show and if it had been early in the show I would not have agreed, but toward the end she did seem to get a lot, well, meaner to her family. As for the best i think it is almost no arguement that June Cleaver is on the top of most lists.

First of all, the BEST tv moms (imho) are DONNA STONE, MARGARET ANDERSON, and HARRIET NELSON. The worst is:

Carol Brady - The woman never did anything except sit around the house watching Alice do the work. She just sat there reading her copy of Jonahton Livingston Seagull. She never helped Alice. She just gave herself tours of the house, as she would just walk through. Never saw her cook, never saw her clean, never saw her wash a dish!

And SoFl123, you need to get a life. Just because someone disagrees with you, you shouldn't attack them. If someone disagrees with me, I'd just take it lightly and say something like "But you have to watch the show! C'mon you know you want to watch it sometimes!"

Carol Brady imo is a not the worst mom of all time just because she didn't do housework doesn't mean shes a bad mom..thats not the main thing that moms do they care for their kids and set rules for them and punish them if they have to. She was a lousy house worker though.

Well Carol did seem to expect a little too much from her kids.

Wow, you never saw Carol cook? It seemed like everytime I looked she was helping Alice out with the cooking, not to mention the gardening as well as the cleaning.

Carol is known to clean out the fireplace, weed the garden, help Alice with the laundry, the cooking and the dusting. Carol has done plenty of work, but this alone isn't what makes her a great mom, it's her interactions with her kids. Perhaps, one should tune into the following episodes, "The Drummer Boy" and "Every Boy Does it Once".

As for SoFl123, sorry, I can't find taste in some of your "so called" good shows like Roseanne and Married with Children. And just beacuse I chose Lucy Ricardo as one of TV's worst moms doesn't mean I dislike I Love Lucy. Although, not one of my favorites, I do like it.

Mary Hartman-She was way too neurotic.
