Lots of suspense and great gore too. I liked when they had the dead girl on the table in the cabin with her leg cut off. So gross but fun.

I really have no nitpicks except for the scene in the trees. It was so comical because I was wondering what the hell kinds of trees were these where they were just walking around all the way up there with such ease? :lol:

It was so unrealistic that it came off comical. I was kind of glad when the girl who lost her boyfriend got the axe to her mouth. I think it was meant to be symbolic to finally shut her up with all her constant whining.

One scene that probably will make me out to be a cold, heartless bastard is where the guy hangs onto the police car to get back to the cabin to save the girl.

No way would I have done that. Uh uh...this chick I just met and face it, after seeing how those inbreds quickly kill people, she would've been dismembered long before he got there. So I would've just kept running down that main road to save myself! :lol:

That's actually another nitpick...these killers murder on sight. Why on earth would they take that girl back to tie her up? It made no sense because they kill instantly and apparently eat their victims for dinner.

Other than that, it was really good and i'm looking forward to the other 5 parts. I think I saw part 2 but not the rest. So next week i'll see what I remember from that one.

I just watched the 1977 film for the first time a couple weeks ago during my first Shudder trial. I saw the 2006 version once when it came to dvd and thought it was the most disgusting film ever at the time. In fact I couldn't bring myself to ever watch that one again since because of the horrible violence and they actually kill the baby which is almost unheard of in horror films.

The 1977 one was really good and I enjoyed it. Even though the violence was high, I don't think it's as graphic as the remake. I may try and watch the remake again...but man, that's one that makes me uncomfortable to watch and I love horror films.

I hope we see Chris and Jessie back for a sequel. It's not like Desmond or Eliza are big stars to where they can't do this. I'll check those out. Open Graves sounds familiar...I must've seen it but many of these horror films i've seen between 2000 and now I pretty much forgotten so they'll feel new again because I rarely watch horror movies over unless they're classics like Halloween or Friday the 13th series.

When you report misconduct, you lose your career. Sad this happen to Eliza because I like her acting.

And when you think about it, all 3 of them going up that watchtower made them sitting ducks for the killers. When they all climbed up, I thought to myself why not just have the guy go up to check for a radio and get the hell back down instead of all 3 of them trapping themselves there?

For all they knew, the killers could've chopped all the wooden legs with their axes or exactly what they did...burn it down. I think you have much better chances running in the dark woods or finding somewhere to hide.

Buffy is a serious show that relates to viewers. As I mentioned on the FOL board, Buffy has some episodes where they go really dark and depressing. There's not always a happy ending on Buffy.

She's bringing up how she's a victim and using it to stay in the media as well. I think if you're really a victim, you don't continually publicize it for your personal gain. It's no wonder Alyssa said yes to doing a Who's The Boss reboot. She's ruined her credibility that she'll never get the roles she would like anymore. I hope someday Eliza is able to make it back into acting. She isn't a media whore and that's what we need from people in show business.

It's hard to offend when it's the truth about what Rose is doing right now. She's making her fame off playing a victim in Hollywood. This is why I believe Eliza actually went through crap on the set of Bull. She isn't making a spectacle out of her situation. She wanted it to stop and CBS decided to pay her out of her contract firing her. Instead of getting fame off her situation, Eliza just disappeared. She knew it wasn't worth it apparently since she isn't acting anymore. I'm sure she still gets money off her movies and Buffy, so she's probably setup with a cozy little environment somewhere.

I liked part 2 and watched the unrated version tonight. Within the first 5 minutes you could easily tell it was unrated when a girl is literally split in half with an ax and we see it done very graphically. And even afterwards when the two killers are separately dragging both halves of her body away down the road. :lol:

I almost shut it off because it began as some sort of filming of a reality show "Survivor" type thing in the woods which looked so boring and I was like "Oh God no!" because I despise reality type shows!

But once the killing began, most of the "Survivor" type crap was dropped and it was all about surviving the inbred killers.

I thought the lead guy who became the hunter of the killers would survive and was sad when they got him. This was definitely more suspenseful (and gorier) than the first one, and I liked this one a little more.

Part 3 use to be my least favorite until 6 came along. Now 6 is the worst one I consider in the franchise. I rank the Wrong Turns in this order: 1, 4, 2, 3, 5, 6. Part 3 grew on me after rewatching it a few times.

Ohhhhhh!! That was Kimberly Caldwell from season 2 of American Idol!! When I read your reply, I was like "WTH does American Idol have to do with anything?!" :lol:

Then I just went to the Wiki page and checked the cast and realized who it is. Watching last night I had absolutely no idea that's who it was, and I watched all of season 2 back in the day.

I was hooked on the first couple of seasons of that show, but after that lost interest and I still can't fathom how it ran so long before going away....same with Survivor...once I realized it was all planned and scripted, I never tuned in again.

I didn't care for the Survivor type story either. It did set up some great kills though.


As soon as I saw that lame reality show opening I was all set to FF or turn it off, but i'm glad I didn't because once that was pushed aside it got really good.


I didn't like him. I thought he was too cartoony. I also don't believe that much blood would come out of your neck. They did amp up the gore for the sequels. I like some of it. When Kimberly gets her mouth chewed off, the effects were cool looking.

Then I just went to the Wiki page and checked the cast and realized who it is. Watching last night I had absolutely no idea that's who it was, and I watched all of season 2 back in the day.

I was hooked on the first couple of seasons of that show, but after that lost interest and I still can't fathom how it ran so long before going away....same with Survivor...once I realized it was all planned and scripted, I never tuned in again.

I found The Surreal Life on Pluto TV On Demand. That's my favorite reality series. They had Ryan Starr on season 3. Apparently she was on season 1 of American Idol. I don't even remember her. I remember Kelly, Justin, and Nikki. The rest are a blur. I don't remember season 2 except for Clay and the guy who became nothing after winning. American Idol was fun the first year. The rest were just boring.

Part 4 is fun. I love setting of the movie. It makes it creepier where they film the events at. The kills are also fun in that one. I hope you like 4 as much as 2.

I watched a movie called "Blood Fest" the other night. Now, I like to just play these films after a quick glance at the synopsis and then start the movie so I knew absolutely nothing about this one going in....

It was so weird and went where I never thought it would go lol. Once the crowd at the park was literally being murdered right out in the open with chainsaws I was like "WTF is this?!" It was all so surreal.

Then I realized as it went on that it was a comedy/horror. It held my attention to the end but what a weird film and like Scream there were a TON of horror movie references in it.

I don't really like that concept where the victims are all all so aware of horror films and act like they're in one and then try going by the rules etc because it takes me out of the story and makes it less scary. But since it was a comedy horror I could forgive it. And the ending just made zero sense but I won't say more for those who haven't seen it.

Part 3 was really good. I liked the story of the prisoners in the woods and think it was a good change from the basic campers being hunted by the hillbillies.

The Mexican prisoner was a nasty son of a bitch though who I was looking forward to seeing his death and it didn't disappoint when inbred hillbilly ate his brains. :lol:

I think the series is getting better with each one and hopefully it keeps this momentum. I enjoyed this from start to finish and only have a couple nitpicks with it.

For one, we saw how unforgiving and murderous the Mexican prisoner was who killed without a second thought. Yet when he fought for his life with the skinhead prisoner----he doesn't kill him when he put him down?! BS!

He would've put a bullet in that guy's head before walking away and after how we saw him so easily kill the black cop it came off like a poor plot device to keep skinhead alive a little longer.

Then later on when the cop and "innocent" prisoner knock out the Mexican---neither one kills him either after seeing first hand what a violent and murderous monster he was.

When "innocent" prisoner asks "Should we kill him?" and cop replies "We're not murderers." I laughed my ass off at the absurdity of that. He killed his fellow cop right in front of him and leaving him alive surely gives him a chance to kill him when he wakes up...that's not murder...it's basic survival. He would've put a bullet in his head to put him down full well knowing it wasn't "murder". (And besides, we learn in the end that "innocent" prisoner isn't so innocent so he would've popped him.)

But I guess they wanted to save him for the brain eating death instead.

Then there's the police station being right smack in the middle of these mountains that's infested with these inbred monsters, and the chief there is just fine with the cops driving the prisoner bus through those back roads. GMAB. Do these cops and also the one who said he grew up in these mountains not know of the hillbillies killing everyone in sight?! And why put a police station there?!

Wow, I didn't there would be this much nitpicking lol....But wait...there's more! :lol:

When the girl who was with her rafting friends in the beginning said her friends were killed "2 days ago"....and leads the convicts back to the raft location....The police would've surely been scouring those roaring rapids for them since the woman back at the sheriff office mentioned the missing rafters.

So why wasn't a search party being conducted all along that river during those 2 days?! That's a HUGE plot hole there! :lol:

Oh and when the cop and the girl are driving the hillbilly's truck to get away, the cop sees crazy murderous hillbilly in the middle of the road.....and swerves to avoid him?! WTF?! Wouldn't any sane person floor the gas and aim right for him?!

And when he's on the truck wielding the ax into cops shoulder through the roof, he never thinks to stop the truck short to fling him off it. This is basic common sense, yet he continues driving at full speed like a moron and eventually crashes. Ugh. :rolleyes:

And I hated the final minute of the film and think it really should've been scrapped on the cutting room floor. Why on earth would the cop return to the old armored truck for the money bags when he had no idea if there weren't more crazed hillbillies in those mountains?! I don't think it was in his character to do that especially after what he went through.

But then again he grew up in those mountains and apparently never even heard of the mutant cannibals who have been killing people for years.

Then we see "innocent" prisoner who's not so innocent after all and just happens to arrive at the money truck at the exact same time (lol) and kills the cop just as he opens the truck. What a coincidence they both get there at the exact same time! :rolleyes:

And then sure enough there's the new hillbilly to off him too and movie is over.

But these kinds of films are so much fun that I can forgive these crazy plot devices and holes. I did like the continuity of the burned down watchtower from the last one. At least there's that.

I can't wait to see part 4 next week now and i'm really enjoying this whole series. I think it's even better than the Screams...and even the Friday the 13ths which I love.

Yea, it completely ruined his character after we spent the whole film rooting for him to survive. It was such a stupid ending. I would've liked to have it just been the prisoner who kept saying he was innocent to be the only one to return for the money and get killed. It would've made a much better ending.

Scream had it's low points for me and it is more story oriented over killings, suspense and gore. Wrong Turn is a suspenseful gory ride from start to finish and I love these kinds of movies best.

And the extended kill of one of the idiots on the table slowly being cut away piece by piece and cooked was unreal. He would've gone into shock quickly and died...yet he stays conscious and keeps screaming while they carve away at him.

The worst part, and where the film completely lost me was when they somehow managed to get the killers all locked in the cell together....yet decide NOT to kill them! What the hell?! :eek:

They've seen their friends butchered, decapitated, and eaten alive....but let's not kill them and eliminate the danger to us....because we're good people?! The idiocy of that was so mind boggling....I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Why didn't they just all slit their throats at that point?

I was completely rooting for the killers from the start and enjoyed seeing every single one of them get killed. :lol:

Even the girl who thought she would ski her way to safety died just feet away from the main road with traffic lol. Never have I seen such a bunch of complete idiots and unlikable people in a horror film before....Anticipating their deaths was what kept me going to the end.

And that opening massacre scene in the sanitarium...it played like a comedy and I was like "Is this Wrong Turn or a spoof of it?" :lol:

Oh and that scene occurred back in 1974 so this place was still able to turn on the generator to power lights and electricity after being 29 years abandoned?! Wouldn't the place have been cleaned out of everything and razed to the ground after what occurred there?...I know, I know...suspend logic with these types of movies. :lol:

No, it's not the gore that makes it disgusting. It just stereotypes the south of incest relationships with characters. It also has nothing to do with Wrong Turn. Every Wrong Turn movie involves characters making a wrong turn that ends up being chased by the inbreds. Wrong Turn 6 doesn't have that. They just went for a story that doesn't relate to Wrong Turn IMO.

I don't get why there was electricity there either all those years later. I can understand it being abandon but to still have electricity doesn't make sense. There's an abandon sanitarium where I live and you have to bring flashlights to see when you break in at night.

I take breaks from TV shows at times and then get back into them. Dark Shadows has been playing nonstop for a lot of days now on my TV. They don't make TV like this anymore.

There was a scene that really irked me. The girl had a GUN aimed right at the inbred's father in the jailhouse. She bargains with him to let him out so she can live....then we don't get to see the scene happen....but the next thing we see is her stumbling out of the jailhouse with both her eyes poked out and blind. WTF?!

She had a LOADED GUN aimed at him from 2 feet away...there was absolutely ZERO chance of him managing to poke both her eyes out without her shooting him point blank. This is why we weren't privy to the scene...because it was THAT implausible!! I hated that scene with a passion because it was such a cop out. The girl would've blown his head off in a fraction of a second when he turned around. Yet he managed to poke BOTH her eyes out?! Give me a break!!

Oh and then there was a blond chick who was gutted, and the inbred held up her intestines....and she opens her mouth to EAT THEM!! WTH?? She doesn't even turn her head away in disgust or fear...she just opens her mouth and take her own intestines LOL. It was so silly.

And again...no one lives in part 5. It was all so silly...this town had a huge Mountain Man Festival within obvious walking distance....yet the whole town is completely deserted as this is all going on....with a hardware store BLOWING UP and no one notices from the festival close by? :rolleyes:

But doesn't that make them seem more disturbing if they're getting pleasure out of torturing them? Going back to Freddy and Jason. I found Freddy to be more sadistic and scarier than Jason because Freddy made his kills art while Jason was wham bam thank you man. I think it's more terrifying in movies if the killer(s) are slow at killing someone than just rushing through it for a body count.

Agreed. That's why I prefer the Scream series over all of the horror franchises because when the heroine gets the advantage, they take it in Scream. Others leave it open for them to get killed.

The film does go a different direction in the later sequels. Did any of the characters make a wrong turn to end up there though? I don't remember the specifics of the film.


There was a scene that really irked me. The girl had a GUN aimed right at the inbred's father in the jailhouse. She bargains with him to let him out so she can live....then we don't get to see the scene happen....but the next thing we see is her stumbling out of the jailhouse with both her eyes poked out and blind. WTF?!

I never understood why this guy was written as their father. He wasn't in the first 4 films and the second film established the gas station worker was their father. How did that guy get into the picture?


Oh and then there was a blond chick who was gutted, and the inbred held up her intestines....and she opens her mouth to EAT THEM!! WTH?? She doesn't even turn her head away in disgust or fear...she just opens her mouth and take her own intestines LOL. It was so silly.

And again...no one lives in part 5. It was all so silly...this town had a huge Mountain Man Festival within obvious walking distance....yet the whole town is completely deserted as this is all going on....with a hardware store BLOWING UP and no one notices from the festival close by? :rolleyes:

I'm terrified to pop in part 6 now....not out of fear but afraid it's going to be even worse than this one. :eek:


Well the girl who lost her eyes was alive in the last scene. I remember that scene because it was too absurd she's wandering the streets and ends up getting in the truck with the inbreds and their father :lol:

I think part 6 is the worst of all but everyone has different tastes. No one makes a wrong turn in part 6 and the whole premise of the film has nothing to do with the inbreds. It's like they wanted to make a film about something different and use a popular franchise title for the name :rolleyes:

I haven't watched part 5 in awhile. I've been busy a lot with my school job. It's keeping me from my TV watching :lol: That and I recently got back into my love for Dark Shadows. I take breaks from TV shows at times and then get back into them. Dark Shadows has been playing nonstop for a lot of days now on my TV. They don't make TV like this anymore.

Love Dark Shadows. Back when the whole series was released on DVD the wife and I splurged on it. Still have not seen every episode, have done a lot of skipping around on the seasons over the years. But this past year I've slowly been watching the show from the beginning. I know most people think of it as a show about Barnabas Collins, but I've really been enjoying the pre-Barnabas episodes.

Reading this thread actually makes me want to rewatch the ones I've seen (well, maybe not part 5 again unless I'm really bored), and watch the ones I haven't, still want to watch part 4.

Love Dark Shadows. Back when the whole series was released on DVD the wife and I splurged on it. Still have not seen every episode, have done a lot of skipping around on the seasons over the years. But this past year I've slowly been watching the show from the beginning. I know most people think of it as a show about Barnabas Collins, but I've really been enjoying the pre-Barnabas episodes.

The only pre-Barnabas story I like from Dark Shadows is the Phoenix story. That's what got me back into watching it nonstop right now. I love Diana's portrayal of Laura. She brings life to the character. Her facial expressions are so disturbing at times. I'm attaching a photo of my favorite facial expression of hers. Those episodes are like watching a story from The Twilight Zone. It's superb IMO. I remember in the second Phoenix story she just walks around like a piece of wood with no facial expressions or excitement. I'm not sure why Diana agreed to come back when she didn't look that interested to play the Phoenix anymore. I consider the first Phoenix story the second best story from the show after 1795. Once 1795 ended, the show became too campy but fun to watch still. I rank The Leviathan story (the fan hated storyline) the third best story. It was at least original whereas others just took elements from previous stories to keep the storyline going.

I bought the individual sets as they were being released. It wasn't cheap like they are now. When I see people talking about how expensive DVD sets are, it makes me laugh. They should have seen the prices back in the early 2000's. I remember my Dark Shadows sets were $60 a piece. I would rush to SunCoast Motion Picture store in the mall every time one was being released. DVD prices have come down A LOT over the years. I don't think prices are unreasonable nowadays compared to when DVDs first started coming out.

We talk about this a lot. They used way too much blood in the scene where she's hanging from the barb wire. I get they're trying to make it seem disgusting for viewers but less would have been more in this scene.

Yeah, there was so much blood on the floor that her boyfriend slipped on it and knocked his girlfriend's head all across the floor. They did that in a previous one too with comical amounts of blood on the floor. Too much is just silly.

But doesn't that make them seem more disturbing if they're getting pleasure out of torturing them? Going back to Freddy and Jason. I found Freddy to be more sadistic and scarier than Jason because Freddy made his kills art while Jason was wham bam thank you man. I think it's more terrifying in movies if the killer(s) are slow at killing someone than just rushing through it for a body count.

It's definitely more disturbing, but I prefer suspense to slow torture type gore. When the kid was getting his flesh slowly sliced off it was just gross imo.

I think the freaks are more scarier when they're hunting people for food. When they just kill for sport giggling and enjoying it, it takes the fear away for me. I think it's more terrifying that these nutcases hunt them like animals and then cook them over just killing them and walking away.

When they buried the guy on the soccer field and eviscerated his head with the shredder it was dumb because in previous films, he was food for them....but now they're just chopping people up and leaving their edible remains for the birds? That's no fun....and in fact they've actually became more like Jason now and just killing for no reason.

Nope. They never got lost and even checked into their motel. There's supposedly this big festival, yet the motel was empty except for them, and the whole town was dead. Where did all the festival people go?! :lol:

And he was way too young too. I don't mind changes like this though if it's needed for the story. If they had just captured one of the inbreds, there would be no communication because they can't speak, so adding a father who wasn't an inbred made the plot possible....but that leads me to wonder.....why the hell wasn't he an inbred himself?! If he's their daddy, he surely must be their brother too. :lol:

That was horrifying because the evil father told her earlier how he and his boys were going to take their turns raping her and then slice off her breasts and make her die slow. So that was a terrible ending knowing what was going to happen to her. She should've taken one of the guns in the jail house and blew her brains out. I think I would have after having both my eyes poked out like that.

The only kill I enjoyed was that stupid woman sheriff. She was smart at first when she saw the inbreds and gave everyone a shotgun, told them each to cover a window or entrance, and wait till the Marshalls came in the morning. It was perfect and would've saved them all till then.

But what does this stupid woman do not 5 minutes later? "I'm gonna go across the street by myself to the hardware store to turn on a generator." OMG! You stupid B! Even the inbred daddy said to her that splitting up was stupid....and this is exactly what she does....for a freaking generator!

And then one of the guys just HAS to go back out to look for his missing girlfriend who he knows is most likely dead. After that, they all deserved to die because the original plan was almost foolproof to survive.

Yeah, we bought the set that comes in the coffin shaped box, definitely cheaper for what it goes for now, so can't complain.

Suncoast was one of my go to places to purchase movies, going back to the early 90s. It's also where I bought my first DVD (Serpent And The Rainbow)

It'll be interesting to see these storylines play out in order, looking forward to the Phoenix storyline. Like I said I used to just jump around, and whenever it did air on TV when I was younger they only seemed to play the Barnabas episodes.
